United States (MNN) — Forty indigenous young adults are on a journey this July to share Jesus with Native America, a yearly event Hutchcraft Ministries calls the Summer of Hope.
The Summer of Hope immediately follows Hutchcraft Ministries’ Warrior Leadership Summit in late June, which equips young indigenous leaders in the Word of God. Both are part of their broader On Eagles’ Wings (OEW) initiative. OEW is focused on bringing the hope of Jesus to Native America.
Brad Hutchcraft says that young adults apply to join the OEW Hope team. The chosen group partners with churches and parachurch organizations to create events with food, sports, and crowd icebreakers for 10 different communities.
But the main event is when the Native young adults share their hope stories.
“Some of them are able to say, ‘And yes, we’ve even been the suicide attempts, but we have found hope, and His name is Jesus,’” Hutchcraft says.
“And when they paint this picture of who Jesus is and the difference He makes, it is amazing to see the walls that come down.”
The team will spend around three days in each community, sharing the hope of the Gospel. They are driven by a deep stirring of their hearts for those who have not yet heard the Good News.
“They don’t want their friends, they don’t want these people that they’re meeting for the first time, to live another day without Jesus, because they know the difference Jesus can make,” Hutchcraft says.
“So these team members, they come back from some of these events and there will be tears. There will be weeping because of their desire that people will choose Jesus.”
Discipling young leaders is another major focus.
“While it’s a summer that is about sharing the Good News, it is also a summer about strengthening these warriors so that they can continue to be make-a-difference warriors wherever they go,” Hutchcraft says.
Pray for the team

Hutchcraft asks, “Pray for boldness or protection, and for [the team] to grow in their relationship with Jesus, and for there to be a great harvest this July as we visit these different communities.”
