Индийский дипломант из Кочи получил работу в Mercedes-Benz в Германии благодаря программе SHINE

A diploma holder from Kochi, who had long aspired to build a career in Germany’s automotive industry, Athul Krishna struggled to find a credible pathway to turn that ambition into reality. After approaching multiple agencies without finding the required guidance and support, his journey took a different turn when he discovered the Skill Hub for International Employment (SHINE) an initiative of Medhavi Skills University, through Instagram.      Over the next one-and-a-half year, Athul underwent German language preparation, technical readiness training and guidance through the international employment process. The structure support eventually helped him secure an opportunity with Mercedes-Benz in Germany and turning an ambition he’d previously struggled to pursue independently into an international career opportunity.      His journey signals the growing importance of combining technical skills with the ability to navigate the international workplace. SHINE brings together skills-based education, foreign-language and cultural preparation, as well as pathways to international employment. Its programmes cover sectors, including automotive, engineering, and mechatronics, with centres in Kerala, Gujarat, and Sikkim.      Finding a Path     For Athul, the challenge went beyond identifying a job opportunity overseas. Despite his interest in Germany’s automotive sector, multiple attempts through agencies failed to provide the credible pathway or support he was looking for.  That changed after he came across SHINE; instead of treating overseas employment as a single-step recruitment process, the programme supported him over an extended period by merging language preparation with technical readiness and guidance on the international employment process.      Skills and Language     Athul’s preparation is a nod to the critical aspect of international mobility: technical qualifications alone may not be enough when workers are entering a new country and the workplace.       His training included German language preparation alongside technical readiness. The combination was designed to help him become better prepared not only for the requirement of an automotive role but also for navigating the boarder international employment process. The model also underlines a wider shift towards skills-led pathways in higher education.      The achievement also illustrates the role that structures skilling can play for young Indians seeking international careers. Rather than relying solely upon academic credentials or recruitment agencies, Athul’s pathway brought together technical preparation, language proficiency, career guidance and overseas employment support.      Athul’s journey from a diploma in Kochi to an opportunity with a global automotive company, therefore, offers a case study in how international mobility can be supported beyond conventional degree-based routes — by bringing together technical skills, language preparation and structured career support.
