101-летний ветеран Второй мировой войны продолжает играть в гольф с энтузиазмом

WWII veteran still swinging and laughing his way through 9 holes at 101-years-old CONWAY, S.C. (WPDE) — If you hit the links with Carl Hallberg, a few things are obvious. One, he's the ultimate hype man. Words of encouragement like "you've got a good one there," "that's a great shot," and "oh you got some power behind that," are peppered in after every shot hit the three other members of his church group's weekly foursome. Two, he can play. In the time ABC 15 followed along, Carl nailed multiple 10+ foot putts, and once put it to within five feet of the fairway. "Atta boy Carl," his friend Ron cheered. "It should've been longer!" Carl fired back. Three, he likes to have some fun. "I usually break cameras all the time," Carl said to no one in particular. "I don't know why they take pictures." The one thing you might not pick up on...his age. Carl's still swinging, driving and laughing his way through nine at 101-years-old. Carl said, "Never really gave it any thought no". Nonetheless, he and his church group from Christ the Servant Lutheran in Conway have a standing tee time out at The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University each and every Thursday. "Fine group of fellas we got here," Carl said. "Oh yea, we have a good camaraderie here." Golf is notoriously difficult to pick up at any age. Carl didn't start until he was 65. Still, the lifelong athlete's always been a natural. "Years ago we used to go to Conway National you know, they're building houses there now...I shot par there," Carl said. "I was about 77-years-old then." "I'd like to make a comeback to baseball, hockey and football," he said with a laugh. "But I can't...the body just don't want to do it." You can probably imagine our biggest question for Carl.
