Детский театр в Уичито шесть недель работает без кондиционеров из-за неисправностей электросети

Wichita Children’s Theatre faces six weeks without air conditioning WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Children’s Theatre and Dance Center has been without air conditioning for six weeks. The center’s executive director said the theatre has been having issues all summer. An air conditioning unit would be repaired, only for another part to burn out. Electrician contacted Evergy in July The theatre brought in an electrician, who contacted Evergy. That was back in July, but Evergy finally sent a worker Tuesday and they did not have good news for the theatre. Kelly Wonsetler Staiger, executive director of the Wichita Children’s Theatre, is preparing for a garage sale fundraiser. The theatre uses events like this to supplement tuition from students and to keep performances free for kids. Without air conditioning, fall programs may be canceled. Wonsetler Staiger had hoped to get the issue fixed in August. She said, “Which is our down time, it’s the only month out of the entire year that we don’t hold classes or performances, so we really need to get the issue taken care of in August, and we were only able to get them to come after we mentioned we were going to the media.” Evergy will cover the cost of the new transformer, but the theatre needs $8,000 to $10,000 for new wiring. The repair may take a month or more. Wonsetler Staiger said her fear is letting down her students. Copyright 2026 KWCH. All rights reserved.
