Журналистка Ховита Идар остановила рейнджеров, защищая свою газету в Мексике

Wishing a belated Happy Birthday to Jovita Idar (Sept 7, 1885 – June 15, 1946), American journalist, teacher, political activist, and civil rights worker who championed the cause of Mexican Americans and Mexican immigrants. She helped organize the First Mexicanist Congress in 1911, a convention that tackled civil rights for Mexican American in the U.S. She helped create the League of Mexican Women, which focused on education for Mexican children. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jovita_Idar From https://doodles.google/doodle/celebrating-jovita-idar/: In 1914, the fearless Idár, journalist at the El Progreso newspaper, expressed her criticism of the US army’s involvement in the Mexican Revolution in an editorial, which resulted in an attempt by Texas Rangers to shut the publication down. When officers rode up to the El Progreso office, Idár stood in their way and forced them to turn back. The scene was recreated in Google Doodle on Sep 21, 2020. The Rangers later returned to ransack and destroy the facility and the printing presses. “Jovita Idar: Mexican American Activist and Journalist” – featured on American Masters on PBS in 2020. Now let’s celebrate Jovita Idar’s life by solving today’s puzzle composed in 1885 by noted British chess composer Frank Healey (1828 – 1906) author of the book A collection of 200 chess problems (1866). Healey wrote: “Problems are indeed the poetry of chess. The same depth of imagination, the same quick perception of the beautiful, the same fecundity of invention, which we demand from the poet, are to be found, under a different form, in the humble labours of the problematist. Surely, without pressing the analogy too far, we may say that the thirty-two pieces form the alphabet of the composer, while the Chess board is the paper, and the positions finally resulting may be fairly likened to so many stanzas.” Online Board Solution (shows first move only) Full Solution P.S. The chess puzzle is published on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. ET. It is customary for advanced players to wait till midnight ET before posting the full solution. Before then, they provide some stats about the solution (e.g., the minimum number of distinct checkmate moves), help guide others, and sometimes post hints. But there are no hard-and-fast rules; feel free to post comments as you please.
