After a massive merger brought Virgo Health into the Omnicom family, the agency looked for ways to turn its new parent company’s resources into additional success for its growing team.
A year ago, Virgo Health was still exploring the benefits of its place among 27 specialized marketing agency holdings in IPG’s Dxtra Health division. Using those resources and blending its internal bases of scientific acumen and creative artistry, Virgo increased revenue 28% to an MM+M-estimated $25.5 million, while increasing headcount from 65 to 74 at its New York, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles offices. The agency did have a notable departure at the top: Cori McKeever, co-president for North America and global healthcare president, left this April for a top role with the American College of Surgeons.
With Omnicom completing its acquisition of IPG late last year, Virgo’s leadership says it remains committed to the “Health with a human touch” ethos it brought into 2025.
“We’ve been so fortunate to work with our largest clients for years,” says Jaimee Reggio, managing director. “This is a depth of understanding their business, understanding the science, understanding what resonates with their key stakeholders; and through the years, building this bank of knowledge and pairing that with what is next in how we bring a particular drug or disease state to life.”
That “human touch” includes regular reminders that their healthcare clients are awash in conferences, publications, digital updates and various other sources clamoring for their attention. It involves VP and creative director George Pearson using his background in art, history and culture to help his team imbue seemingly rote items such as booths and symposia with elements of midcentury European art movements to break through the noise.
It requires balancing that creativity with the scientific expertise of more than 20 Ph.D.s on staff and the needs of the client. That human-first approach even extends to Virgo’s newly developed AI tools, which expanded from internal, efficiency-minded usage in 2024 to a collaboration with clients last year.
“In 2025, we brought together the senior leadership team of Virgo Health to talk about AI and how we might use it to advance our work with clients and solve the problems they face every day,” Reggio says. “It started with a half-day session where we all holed up, and started talking about the what-ifs: ‘What problem do we see time and time again with our clients? What could we create? What could we build together with our AI team that our teams could use and that our clients could see value in?’”
Those sessions birthed Virgo’s KOL 360 platform, which tracks down influencers and key digital opinion leaders in healthcare and disease-state discussions. Its Compliance Check, meanwhile, sifts through a raft of new FDA warning letters to ensure that products are ready for medical, legal and regulatory review.
All of the above helped Virgo fulfill the three goals the agency set for itself at the beginning of 2025: Expand business with its largest client, expand its offerings to clients and expand its client roster. It accomplished all three and, with the Omnicom onboarding processes still under way, Virgo leadership has similar expectations for 2026.
“We didn’t try to be everything to everyone, and in 2025 we set off at the top of the year [with] three goals all centered around expansion,” Reggio says. “And we’re doing the same this year … we’ll just keep doing what got us here.”
What is an interesting way you’ve seen a brand use AI?
Indegene’s digital avatar technology for video localization. The concept is straightforward: Production teams shoot thought leader videos against green screen, then capture additional footage of presenters delivering scripted sequences and standard movements. That footage and audio are used to train a generative model, building a personalized digital avatar of each thought leader. The result is that any video can be rebuilt for any language market without re-shooting, dubbing or asking a global KOL to record in a language they don’t speak … a solution for localizing high-value content at scale. — Pearson
