Боксер Хесус Вентура готовит свой профессиональный дебют в сентябре на турнире в Остине

Victoria fighter Ventura prepares for first professional match in September Published 5:15 am Saturday, August 15, 2026 A Victoria pugilist who has fought for several years at the amateur level is set to make his pro debut in September. Jesus “La Verdad” Ventura, 26, will travel to Austin where he will perform on the undercard of the Downtown Showdown Austin Professional Fight Night on Saturday, Sept. 19. Presented by JU Nation, Ventura’s match is scheduled for four three-minute rounds in the light heavyweight division (175 pounds) and will be one of seven boxing bouts that evening at the Hilton Austin. Ventura is represented by Morales Management and works with boxing trainer Rey Perez at the Heart of a Champion gym in Victoria. Ventura acknowledges he does not know much about his opponent but feels supremely confident he will come out victorious. “Once he looks in my eyes, he’ll know I want it more than he does,” Ventura said. Originally from the northside of Houston, Ventura moved to Victoria as a child. He met Perez at about the age of 12 and began boxing training simply for the fun of it. Active in other sports, Ventura played football and ran track in middle school and high school. He was a former student-athlete at Victoria West High and graduated in 2018. Ventura said he gradually developed an affinity for the sweet science of boxing. “At around 13, I started sparring and fell in love with the competitive nature of it. It’s one of my favorite hobbies,” Ventura said. Last summer, Ventura won the Gulf Coast Nationals in Houston and estimates he has over 30 wins as an amateur. He has competed in the famed Golden Gloves tournament for several years as well. At six-foot and 170 pounds, Ventura is an orthodox fighter but can also deliver blows from the southpaw stance. He describes himself as a slick boxer that likes to counter his opponent with offense of his own. He has studied the elusive moves of legends such as James Toney, Evander Holyfield, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Roy Jones Jr. and implements some of their tactics into his own matches. This was a gradual evolution for Ventura as he began his boxing pursuits with more of a slugger’s mentality. “I like fighting like them. I pick up a lot of their moves and add it into my style as well,” Ventura said. “I try to not get hit and make them pay.” The accomplished amateur said he has fought the majority of his matches at 165, which is in the junior middleweight division. Ventura feels comfortable with five extra pounds and does not feel it will be a hindrance to move up in weight. He does not have one signature punch. However, Ventura said he routinely punishes opposing fighters with blows to the body. “I can’t pick a favorite punch as long as they all land one way or another,” Ventura laughed. The boxing professional decided to pick the ring nickname “La Verdad,” which translates to “The Truth” in English. Ventura said it has been his nickname for a long time during his childhood and it also showcases his Mexican roots. He is a fluent Spanish speaker. “That’s what they always were calling me when I first started competing. I got used to everyone calling me that. The nickname just stuck to me,” Ventura said. Ventura’s long term goal in the sport is to reel off 10 consecutive wins and earn the reputation as a prospect. From there, perhaps a shot at a championship bout could come sometime in the future. “I definitely want to earn a title shot and keep going from there,” Ventura added.
