Victor Joecks Columnist. When readers want sharp conservative analysis and vigorous writing, they turn to Victor Joecks. He’s an award-winning columnist for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Never one to shy away from controversy, Joecks offers crisp, well-reasoned arguments on current events. He’s flushed out the flawed premises of critical race theory. He’s highlighted the harm caused by global warming alarmism. He’s exposed the inherent contradictions in the left’s transgender ideology. Joecks’ gift as a writer is making the complex understandable. His analogies help readers grasp topics in deeper ways. His insight shows them how different events connect in ways they didn’t previously consider. His clear stances help them follow his arguments to their hard-hitting destinations. Even readers who disagree — at least for the moment — respect and appreciate his skill in forcefully advocating for his beliefs. Joecks previously served as a Staff Sergeant in the Nevada National Guard. In 2016, he deployed to Kuwait, serving as a brigade public affairs operations noncommissioned officer. While overseas, he covered soldiers throughout the Middle East, including in Iraq, and received a Meritorious Service Medal for his work. In all, he served 11 years. Before joining the Review-Journal, he served as the executive vice president of the Nevada Policy Research Institute, a nonpartisan, free-market think tank based in Las Vegas. During his tenure, he helped thousands of teachers and other government employees opt out of union membership. He envisioned and oversaw the creation of TransparentCalifornia.com, a database of public employee salary information. The site went on to receive more than 50 million annual page views. He’s previously appeared on Fox News, Fox Business and C-SPAN. He has been quoted in publications ranging from the Wall Street Journal to Politico to National Review Online. Joecks graduated from Hillsdale College, double majoring in history and math. Victor, his wife Gloria, and their seven children live near Las Vegas.
