Студенты Университета Вирджинии призваны представить вид Америки через 250 лет

UVA contest asks Charlottesville students to envision America’s next 250 years CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - America just celebrated its 250th anniversary, and the University of Virginia wants students in the Charlottesville area to think about what the next 250 years may look like, and how technology will affect the country’s future. “We deal with technology all the time, and our students definitely do as digital natives. So we really want to hear from them,” said Director of Community Research at the Center for Community Partnerships at UVA, Sherica Jones-Lewis. The UVA Center for Community Partnerships is teaming up with the Digital Technology for Democracy Lab for the third Voices of Democracy Contest. To enter, students submit 150-300 words about the topic. The center says it always receives strong submissions. “We have a really hard time choosing the winners because they’re honestly so good,” Jones-Lewis said. The center wants to hear from all students in the Charlottesville and Albemarle area. It says the submissions bring a unique perspective to the table. “We also know that young people are much better at that than we are because they’ve seen things change so rapidly. So we’re really excited to see what they come up with,” Jones-Lewis said. The deadline to submit is September 30. First place will receive $500. Second place gets $250. Third place receives $100. Honorable mention gets $50. Do you have a story idea? Send us your news tip here. Copyright 2026 WVIR. All rights reserved.
