Tygart Valley United Way purchases downtown Fairmont building for headquarters FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) - Tygart Valley United Way has purchased a building at 104 Adams Street in downtown Fairmont, previously the home of Bond Insurance, to serve as its headquarters. Officials say the facility will create opportunities for collaboration, expand space for community partners, and realign local resources. Friendship Fairmont will relocate to the United Way’s current location, providing the organization with an expanded space to grow its services. “This is about much more than moving from one building to another,” said Brett White, Chief Executive Officer of Tygart Valley United Way. “It is about making sure that the spaces and resources we have in our community are being used in the best possible way. This move gives United Way room to grow, gives Friendship Fairmont an opportunity to expand its work and creates a place where organizations and people can come together to solve problems and serve our community.” The relocated United Way will feature traditional office space and a community hub for flexible meeting, training, and collaborative work. WVU Medicine is investing in the project and serving as the hub’s naming partner. “WVU Medicine is proud to invest in the future of the Tygart Valley region by supporting the Tygart Valley United Way and the important work its team does every day across our communities,” said Aaron Yanuzo, Chief Operating Officer of WVU Medicine Fairmont Medical Center. “This investment is about much more than a facility. It is an investment in people, in collaboration, and in the programs and organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.” WesBanco also collaborated with the organization to secure financing for the project. “At WesBanco, we are committed to helping organizations secure financing solutions that advance their missions and strengthen the communities they serve,” said LaReta Lowther, Executive Vice President and Senior Director of Community Development. “This partnership with Tygart Valley United Way reflects that commitment, creating a path forward for a significant long-term investment while protecting resources that can continue to address critical community needs.” The United Way added that the project was made possible by M&K Real Estate, the property’s previous owner, who reduced the purchase price as a charitable contribution. The move comes as Tygart Valley United Way begins implementing its “Thriving Community Plan and Bold Goals” to improve community resiliency, youth opportunity, and financial security across its five-county service area. Additional details about the relocation and the facility’s plans will be announced in the coming months.
