Монгольский христианин перенял модель работы с молодежью у американской организации

Mongolia (MNN) — Indigenous Christians are usually best suited to reach people from their ethnic group because they understand the culture. That’s the principle behind On Eagles’ Wings, a division of Hutchcraft Ministries. Director Brad Hutchcraft says OEW’s Leadership Center is typically filled with Native youth from North America. But last year, the center received a student from Mongolia. “He wanted to learn how to lead a ministry among Mongolian youth back home,” Hutchcraft explains. OEW’s gap year program equipped the young man well. “He was like a sponge, just soaking up all that we were pouring into him, and he had so many great questions in his time with us,” Hutchcraft says. “As the year went on, he said, ‘I really believe this On Eagles Wings model of Indigenous young people reaching Indigenous young people with the hope of Jesus can work in Mongolia.’” Taking the OEW model to Mongolia Today, there’s an active partnership, with OEW sending a team to equip Mongolian Christians earlier this year. “They came back with stories [about] what God did, how God was moving in Mongolia, and of Mongolian young people who were seeing for the first time that they could do this type of ministry,” Hutchcraft says. “One came up and said, ‘I always loved basketball, and I always wanted to do ministry. I never knew that I could do ministry through basketball.’” The partnership is benefiting OEW leaders, too, as they learn from their Mongolian counterparts. “Our team also came back with lessons they had learned about how we can strengthen some of what we do here, so it really worked both ways,” Hutchcraft adds. Building an ongoing connection Praise the Lord for unexpected connections. Pray that Mongolian believers will boldly use their gifts and interests to share the hope of Jesus with young people in their communities. “We certainly want to keep pouring into that ministry,” Hutchcraft says. “They’ve already asked, ‘Hey, can we send another Mongolian young person?’ One of those who traveled with the Mongolian Hope team asked to learn from us over here and be part of the Leadership Center. So, we believe it’ll be an ongoing connection.” Header image is a representative stock photo courtesy of Yang/Unsplash.
