Asset IQ Active provides real-time monitoring for high-value assets where location and condition data are required, while Asset IQ Passive tracks larger asset populations in high-volume operations using RFID and barcode technologies. Data on asset movements and utilization can also be used to identify operational bottlenecks, adjust inventory levels, and improve route planning. According to Tosca, the information can support sustainability objectives by helping businesses reduce unnecessary transport movements, limit product and asset losses, improve asset utilization, and support circular supply chain models. Tosca is continuing to develop applications that combine active and passive tracking as sensors, chips, connectivity solutions, and battery systems become more accessible. One potential application involves an active-enabled pallet transporting multiple passive-tagged crates, providing visibility at different levels of the supply chain while managing tracking costs.
