In the spring of 2023, Green was called into a meeting when suspicions were raised about her conduct. Residents call for action over ‘illegally’ operating ice cream vans near Wisbech Park Residents are calling for action over ‘illegal’ ice cream vans trading in a Fenland town. Concerns have been raised by a resident in Wisbech, who wishes to stay anonymous, regarding at least three vans that are believed to be illegally operating near the park. The person said the “ancient, dilapidated and filthy” vans have been reported to Fenland District Council by several residents for many years, mainly for their “noisy diesel engines emitting noxious fumes while idling for hours on double yellow lines at a blind corner”. Neighbours have rallied together to find a temporary home for two abandoned German Shepherds before they face euthanasia. Two weeks ago, police were called to a property in Marshland St James following concerns for the wellbeing of dogs Mia and Mali, after they could be heard barking in the heat. Inside, the house has been stripped, and there were no owners to be found. Approval given for turning a former bank into an adult gaming centre in a Fenland town has caused frustration among residents. Last month, Fenland District Council gave the go-ahead for the change of use of the former Halifax Bank at 28 Market Place in Wisbech. The proposal was for the site, a “financial and professional service”, to be turned into a “sui-generis adult gaming centre”. The property closed on January 22, 2025, and has been unoccupied since. An 82-year-old boxing stalwart and a devoted scout leader, who have each inspired generations of young people, were among the community heroes celebrated at the 18th Fenland District Council Pride in Fenland Awards. Last Friday, Wisbech neighbourhood police officers were back out on patrol in relation to residents' concerns about drug use and dealing in Wisbech Park. Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy after they found him to be in possession of the drugs. West Walton dog handler Meg Slack represents UK in World Junior Handling finals Success continues for a young West Norfolk dog handler who won a trophy at Crufts earlier this year. Meg Slack from West Walton travelled to Italy with her family at the beginning of last month to represent the UK at the World Junior Handling finals.
