AI-powered robotic massage company Aescape is attempting a striking comeback months after entering insolvency proceedings with more than $150 million in debt, and one of its highest-profile backers is showing no signs of walking away.
Tom Brady, who became an Aescape investor and chief innovation officer in 2025, is continuing to work with the company and will headline the opening session of the Eudemonia Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida, this November in partnership with the brand.
The retired NFL star will also help unveil a new recovery experience he has been developing with Aescape, inspired by the recovery routines Brady credits with helping him remain in professional football until the age of 45.

Tom Brady stays with Aescape after insolvency
Brady’s continued involvement is notable given the financial crisis Aescape faced earlier in 2026.
The robotic massage company entered insolvency proceedings after accumulating more than $150 million in debt, with filings pointing to mounting financial pressure as the business moved from startup development into commercial operations.
High operating costs, capital expenditures and debt obligations contributed to the company’s difficulties.
Rather than disappearing, however, Aescape’s technology and operations have continued under a restructured business.
Aescape Recovery takes over the technology
Aescape Recovery is the new operating company that owns Aescape’s technology, intellectual property, hardware and partner network agreements.
The business is operating with a different capital structure, leadership team and go-to-market strategy under CEO Frank Britt.
Britt has pushed back strongly against suggestions that Aescape effectively went out of business during the restructuring.
He said in May that the company was continuing to grow, recruit employees and record increasing consumer use of its robotic massage technology.
Brady says he wanted to help build the product
Brady’s role goes beyond serving as a celebrity ambassador for the company.
As chief innovation officer, he has been involved in developing a recovery experience that will be demonstrated publicly at Eudemonia this November.
“Recovery was never optional for me. It’s why I could keep playing at 45,” Brady said. “I didn’t want to just put my name on something — I wanted to help build it.”
The company has not yet disclosed full details of the new experience, but says it draws on recovery practices Brady used during his professional football career.
What does an Aescape robotic massage do?
Aescape is attempting to automate part of a service traditionally dependent on human massage therapists.
Its system uses robotic massage equipment combined with artificial intelligence to deliver personalised treatments, allowing users to adjust aspects of their massage experience rather than following a single fixed program.
The concept sits at the intersection of several rapidly expanding wellness trends: recovery, longevity, personalisation and AI-powered automation.
For gyms, hotels and wellness businesses, robotic massage also offers the possibility of providing treatments without requiring a massage therapist for every session.
Equinox gives Aescape another major partner
Aescape’s continued commercial expansion provides another indication that the restructuring has not ended its ambitions.
The company recently partnered with luxury fitness brand Equinox to develop pre- and post-workout massage experiences delivered through Aescape’s robotic systems.
The partnership positions the machines as part of workout recovery rather than simply as an alternative to a conventional spa massage.
It also gives Aescape exposure to a customer base already accustomed to paying for premium fitness, wellness and recovery services.
Recovery is becoming a major wellness business
Aescape’s renewed push comes as recovery increasingly moves from professional sports into mainstream luxury fitness and hospitality.
Cold therapy, compression systems, infrared treatments, sleep optimisation and personalised recovery programs have become increasingly prominent across premium gyms, resorts and wellness destinations.
High-profile athletes are also becoming directly involved in that market. Brady’s work with Aescape follows a broader trend in which elite athletes are turning the training and recovery practices developed during their careers into commercial wellness products.
Maria Sharapova has become Global Wellness Ambassador for Aman, while Novak Djokovic has also worked with the luxury hospitality group on performance and recovery experiences.
Aescape still has to prove its new business model
The restructuring does not erase the financial problems that pushed the original business into insolvency.
Moving robotic hardware from development into widespread commercial use requires substantial capital, while Aescape must demonstrate that consumer demand can support the cost of manufacturing, deploying and maintaining its systems.
The new Aescape Recovery structure is designed to address those challenges with a different capital base and commercial strategy.
Partnerships with established wellness operators such as Equinox could be important because they provide access to existing locations and customers rather than requiring Aescape to build an entirely independent consumer network.
Tom Brady becomes part of Aescape’s comeback
Brady’s decision to remain publicly involved also gives the restructured company something difficult to obtain after a financial crisis: continuity and credibility with consumers.
Instead of distancing himself from the company following its insolvency proceedings, Brady is putting his own recovery philosophy at the centre of its next product push.
The new experience will be previewed at the Eudemonia Summit in November, providing an early indication of how Aescape plans to combine robotic massage technology with athlete-led recovery programming.
Whether the restructured business can ultimately turn that technology into a sustainable commercial model remains to be seen. But after more than $150 million in debt raised questions about Aescape’s future earlier this year, the company is clearly still trying to build one.
