What’s the Story? - Time and Water screens at Bíó Paradís on Friday, August 28 at 19:00. - Director Sara Dosa and writer/subject Andri Snær Magnason will join a Q&A after the film, moderated by Sigríður Pétursdóttir. - The documentary uses family archives and Iceland’s disappearing glaciers to examine memory, loss and life during environmental change. Family memory and disappearing glaciers Time and Water follows Andri Snær as he turns his family film archive into a kind of time capsule while reflecting on the disappearance of Icelandic glaciers and the loss of his grandparents. Dosa, whose Fire of Love received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations, directed the documentary. Bíó Paradís describes the film as a reflection on home, memory and what it means to live through profound environmental change. Iceland Review reported in January on the new documentary about Iceland’s disappearing glaciers. Andri Snær has long made climate change and the language used to understand it central to his work; Iceland Review previously profiled him in In Other Words and covered the international sale of rights to On Time and Water. Friday’s screening is one of several listed at Bíó Paradís over the following days, but the August 28 event is distinguished by the post-film conversation with Dosa and Andri Snær. The cinema says the film will be shown in Icelandic with English subtitles. The screening begins at 19:00 at Bíó Paradís, Hverfisgata 54 in Reykjavík.
