Третье поколение семьи Пармли продолжает династию в дериддерском футболе

DERIDDER, La. (KALB) - The Parmley name has carried a lot of weight in DeRidder for over two decades. “It’s the family,” former DeRidder head coach Eric Parmley said about how special the town is. “It’s every kid goes to school together from Kindergarten through the 12th grade.” Eric was the head coach at DeRidder for nine seasons before turning the program over to his son, Brad. “I grew up in a locker room, and I love everything about it,” Brad said about why he wanted to be a coach. “I love the camaraderie. I love all the life lessons that you learn through football, going to college. It was always kind of a well-known fact that I wanted to be a coach.” Brad now enters his 12th season as the head coach for the Dragons and has created a program of sustained success. “He’s been on the sidelines since he was way big, and it’s always been a dream to be there, and as hard as he’s worked and been there,” Eric said. “I’m awfully proud of him.” Now, there’s a third generation of Parmleys leaving his impact on the Dragons. Michael, Brad’s oldest son, is the starting quarterback for DeRidder. “Everything I know is through him, and come a long way,” Michael said about playing for his dad. “They’ve been here for, I think, 20 years it is now. Just keeping the family names just pretty cool.” Eric still remains on DeRidder’s staff as an assistant coach. “I do those little things that they don’t like to do,” Eric joked. The three Parmleys continue to continue family tradition and further their football bond. “We eat Sunday lunch at my mom’s house, and the whole family’s sitting there, and then after lunch, we come up here, and we break down film,” Brad said. “Most of the time by the end of the day, it’s going to be all Parmleys in the coach’s office kind of talking ball.” Click here to report a typo.
