‘The Voice’ Coaches Poke Fun at Blake Shelton While Welcoming ‘Cooler’ Riley Green As Riley Green prepares to make his coaching debut on The Voice, his arrival has already given Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson an opportunity to poke fun at one of the show’s… As Riley Green prepares to make his coaching debut on The Voice, his arrival has already given Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson an opportunity to poke fun at one of the show’s most familiar faces: Blake Shelton. The longtime country star may no longer be sitting in one of the show’s iconic red chairs, but that didn’t stop his former co-stars from jokingly comparing him to the younger country newcomer. Riley Green Brings a New Country Presence to the Coaching Panel The Voice is set to return for its 30th season on NBC, with several changes to its coaching lineup. Returning coaches Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson will be joined by first-time coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green. During a recent coach roundtable, the four stars discussed everything from the emotional Blind Auditions to the kinds of artists they expect to be drawn to throughout the competition. The conversation took a humorous turn when Levine highlighted Green's arrival as the show's newest country representative. “There’s a new cowboy over here,” Levine joked. Clarkson immediately joined in, describing Green as the “younger, cooler, hot one.” Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson Take Aim at Blake Shelton The playful comparisons quickly became more obvious when Levine continued praising Green. “Way better looking, cooler, more talented,” he declared. Although Shelton's name wasn't initially mentioned, Clarkson made sure there was no confusion about who they were talking about. “That’s right Blake. Shout out!” she added. The comments were clearly delivered in jest, particularly given Shelton's long history with the show and his friendship with both Levine and Clarkson. Shelton served as a coach from The Voice's inaugural season through Season 23 before stepping away from the series. Clarkson Admits Riley Green Could Make Country Competition Tougher While Clarkson was happy to welcome Green to the coaching panel, his presence could make her own strategy more difficult. With another country artist now competing for contestants, Clarkson acknowledged that she may have to work harder to attract country singers to her team. “I was a little bummed about that actually. It was easier for me to get country before and now I’m back in a spot where I’m going to have to try so hard,” Clarkson explained. Levine agreed, warning Green that Clarkson could be one of his biggest competitors when it comes to recruiting country talent. “Any great country artist that you want, she’s the one you have to look out for,” Levine told Green, pointing out that Clarkson's musical range allows her to compete for artists who might otherwise gravitate toward a country coach. Riley Green Begins a New Chapter on ‘The Voice’ Green's addition marks a new chapter for the country singer, who is stepping into a role previously occupied by country heavyweights including Shelton and Reba McEntire. The Alabama native is also expected to be back for the first-ever The Voice: Celebrity in 2027. The new season will mark a major change for NBC’s long-running singing competition, shifting its focus from undiscovered vocalists to familiar faces from entertainment, sports, and social media.
