Сухая жара в Оклахоме вынуждает фермера отправлять скот на аукцион

Just in case you hadn’t noticed in our area it has been hot. Worse than that is the lack of moisture. Plus, our area had no sub-soil moisture so everything has dried up. Most pastures look like the dead of winter. Actually 30 miles west of where I lived earlier on a few places we did grow grass. It may be dried up now, but perhaps some forage will show up later. If it doesn’t rain soon and quite a bit there will be a lot of cows hit the auction. I like to keep my 9- and 10 -year-old cows in a separate pasture so if it gets dry they are the first to go. And when I preg check and tag the cows that are heavy bred with no teeth they perhaps get to raise one more calf. Where I buy cows when I add to the herd and any time we preg and age I will put a little ear notch in the name tag according to the year we think they were born using the clock on the eartag. For example, if I think the cow is 8 years old and this is 2026 she should have been born 2018 so I ear notch my name tag where 8 is on the clock. I like using name tags and my phone number on the tag. I have gotten several back from neighbors and have delivered several cattle to them. In fact, I told a neighbor the other day it’s a good thing I saw your blue tag or I would have assumed she was mine as she was with a lot of other black cows. Then we paired her up with her calf before we branded. I was listening to the radio this morning and they quoted a far-left person saying that tipping is racist. What kind of idiot says something like that? I tip all races. I couldn’t care less what color their skin is. Some people love hatred. What a miserable life. A friend of mine asked his wife “How many guys have you slept with?” She said, “Just you.” He said, “No be serious.” She said, “I am—everyone else kept me up all night.” Editor’s note: The views expressed here are the author’s own and do not represent the view of High Plains Journal.
