В Веллингтоне пройдет показ расширенной версии документального фильма «King Rocker» с участием комика Стюарта Ли

Comedian Stewart Lee will return to Wellington this October for a special screening of the acclaimed King Rocker: Director’s Cut, followed by a live Q&A with Lee, The Nightingales frontman Robert Lloyd and director Michael Cumming. The event brings together two people with a unique connection to Wellington. Robert Lloyd, the subject of the documentary, has lived in the town for many years. Stewart Lee, who was born in Wellington in 1968, returned to his birthplace while making King Rocker, where he met Lloyd and began exploring his extraordinary life and career. Lloyd, best known as the frontman of cult Birmingham bands The Prefects and The Nightingales, has spent more than four decades making music while remaining largely under the radar. His story is at the heart of King Rocker, as Lee and director Michael Cumming explore the life and career of an unconventional musician and ask how he wants to be remembered. - Advertisement - Rather than a traditional music documentary, King Rocker takes a distinctly unconventional approach, weaving his life and career together with the story of a forgotten King Kong sculpture in Birmingham. The film features appearances from Frank Skinner and Nigel Slater, alongside musicians, writers and comedians. The result has been widely praised by critics. The Guardian named King Rocker its Pick of the Day, depicting “The Jarvis Cocker that never happened”, while The Observer described it as “a charming and experimental documentary.” The special Wellington event will give audiences the opportunity to see the rarely seen Director’s Cut of King Rocker, expanded by 30 minutes, before hearing directly from Stewart Lee, Robert Lloyd and Michael Cumming during a live Q&A. “It’s fantastic to be able to bring an event like this to Wellington, particularly with Stewart Lee and Robert Lloyd both having such strong connections to the town. It’s a unique opportunity to see the film and then hear directly from them in the Q&A. It’s going to be a great evening, and one that audiences won’t want to miss,” said Damian Breeze, Manager of Wellington Orbit.  King Rocker: Director’s Cut + Q&A with Stewart Lee and Robert Lloyd takes place at Wellington Orbit on 19 October at 7 pm. Tickets are priced at £20. For more information and tickets, visit wellingtonorbit.co.uk.
