Stan Verrett has found his way back into the ESPN cinematic universe.
The former SportsCenter anchor announced Thursday that he’s joining NFL Network to host the revived NFL Total Access, airing Tuesday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m. ET starting next week.
“When I joined ESPN in 2000, one of my goals was to be a part of its NFL coverage,” Verrett wrote. “Always enjoyed covering everything on SportsCenter, but pro football remained my passion. Here we are all these years later, and I can’t wait to get started.”

NFL Total Access is a callback to the network’s old long-running program of the same name. The revived version will cover news and analysis from around the league, with regular appearances from Steve Wyche and a full roster of NFL Network insiders and reporters.
ESPN announced in May 2025 that it wouldn’t renew Verrett’s contract after the network shut down its Los Angeles-based SportsCenter studio, ending a 25-year run that began in 2000 and included co-anchoring the show’s 1 a.m. ET edition alongside Neil Everett from 2009 to 2023. Verrett called the split a “life decision” rather than a career one, telling Awful Announcing at the time he wasn’t willing to relocate back to Bristol.
That August, the Saints hired Verrett to host their new digital pregame show, a homecoming for the New Orleans native and St. Augustine High School alum. He also reunited with Everett for a twice-weekly Twitch show, and by September, FanDuel Sports Network brought him on as pregame and postgame host for the Los Angeles Clippers, reuniting him with longtime ESPN executive Norby Williamson. That role expanded again in October when FanDuel tapped Verrett to host a new whip-around pregame show spanning its 15 regional networks, but with Main Street Sports Group, the operator of the FanDuel-branded networks, shutting down this spring, Verrett was once again searching for his next opportunity.
Verrett said Thursday he’ll keep his Saints role as well, continuing as host of a weekly preview podcast on the team’s website alongside his new NFL Network duties.
NFL Total Access isn’t the only former NFL Network staple returning this season. The Aftermath, a show built around head coaches’ press conferences, debuts Sept. 14 in a new format hosted by Zubin Mehenti and Herm Edwards, airing Mondays from noon to 3 p.m. and leading directly into NFL Network’s simulcast of ESPN’s NFL Live and Monday Night Countdown.
