Springfield tech survey will measure AI use, workplace equity Springfield Women in Technology has launched a regional survey aimed at measuring how artificial intelligence use, return-to-office policies and salary equity are shaping the technology workforce across southwest Missouri. The organization is seeking responses from technology professionals throughout the Springfield area, according to a community announcement. The survey, conducted with support from sponsors including Jack Henry and Associates, will gather data intended to help employers, HR leaders and industry professionals better understand workplace trends. Organizers said in the announcement that previous survey results underscored the need for updated information about the local technology sector. Data from the group's 2025 survey found that 54% of women working in local technology fields reported experiencing workplace discrimination, while 27% said that they viewed their work-life balance positively. The earlier survey also found widespread use of artificial intelligence tools in the workplace, with 76% of women and 74% of men reporting heavy use of AI as part of their jobs. The organization said that the new survey will help establish communitywide training standards and provide a clearer picture of how technology workplaces are changing, according to the announcement. "We are engineering a better local tech industry," Carmen Creswell-Johnson, events committee chair for Springfield Women in Technology, said in the announcement. "By tracking shifts in AI adoption, RTO mandates, and salary equity, we provide Southwest Missouri employers with the exact data they need to build competitive, equitable workplaces." Survey open through Sept. 30 Although Springfield Women in Technology is leading the effort, the survey is open to all technology professionals in the region regardless of gender. Participants can complete the survey through Sept. 30 at surveymonkey.com. The organization said in the announcement that individual responses and raw data will remain confidential to encourage candid feedback. Results event planned for November Survey findings and analysis are scheduled to be presented during a free public event at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the efactory in downtown Springfield. According to the announcement, the presentation will provide insights into trends affecting the local technology industry and offer information that employers, HR departments and technology professionals can use when evaluating workplace policies and practices.
