В Спрингфилде отметят 10-летие tallest скульптуры штата Орегон

Springfield celebrates 10-year anniversary of Springfield Flame at upcoming block party SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The City of Springfield is inviting residents to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Springfield Flame, a 62-foot sculpture situated at Springfield's northern gateway. The commemoration will take place at The Block Party, an annual event organized independently from the city, which will be held across downtown Springfield on Saturday, Sept. 12, and will feature food, music, activities and opportunities for local organizations to connect with community members. First installed on October 3, 2016, the Springfield Flame was created by sculptor and University of Oregon alumnus Devin Lawrence Field, and is located at Gateway Street and Randy Papé Beltline. It is the tallest public sculpture in Oregon. Commemorative memorabilia made for the event, including anniversary posters, T-shirts, stickers and other giveaways, will be available at a City and Team Springfield booth set up at the event. “The Springfield Flame was created to welcome people to our community,” said Mayor Sean VanGordon, “and over the past ten years it has become much more than a landmark. It represents Springfield’s creativity, our sense of possibility, and what we can accomplish when people come together around a shared vision. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the many people and partnerships that brought the Springfield Flame to life and helped make it part of Springfield’s identity.” Full details regarding events and locations can be found on the Springfield Block Party website.
