Valve сократила квоту для Южной Америки до одного места на The International 2026

Valve has revealed the direct invitations and slot allocations for The International 2026, and the announcement immediately raised eyebrows across the competitive Dota 2 scene. For the first time in recent memory, only seven teams have been handed a direct invite, while the biggest point of contention is South America receiving just one slot, as detailed in the official reveal. What Changed with TI2026 Slot Allocation? For years, Valve awarded eight direct invitations to TI based on Dota Pro Circuit standings, ensuring that the most consistent teams secured their spots. This year, only seven teams received that privilege, with the remaining slots opening up for qualifiers. The shift could be intended to give more regions a fighting chance, but the way the slots have been distributed has some regions celebrating and others, like South America, crying foul. South America’s Single Slot Raises Questions For South America, the allocation feels like a slap in the face. After years of climbing the ranks and consistently fielding teams that can compete with the best, the region has been given just one guaranteed slot. Teams like beastcoast and Thunder Awaken have earned respect internationally, yet South American fans now have to watch their representatives fight through an extremely cramped qualifier route. The decision seems to ignore the region’s growth, evidenced by packed arenas at events like the Lima Major. Valve hasn’t commented publicly on the reasoning, but many in the community believe it’s a misstep that could stall the region’s momentum. Qualifier Bloodbath Awaits With only one direct slot, South America’s qualifier will be fiercely contested. Multiple organizations have invested heavily in the region, and fans were hoping to see at least two South American banners at TI. Now, only one team will advance directly, and the pressure on the qualifier will be immense. It’s a scenario that could lead to top-tier talent being left home simply because of an arbitrary allocation cap. GamerHeadlines Takeaway The International 2026 is already shaping up to be controversial before a single game is played. South America’s one slot is the lightning rod, and unless Valve clarifies its stance or adjusts future allocations, the grumbling is unlikely to fade. For now, the region’s teams have a steeper hill to climb than ever—and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
