Carole Saad, owner of LouLou Lounge, and Nathalie Carrier, executive director of the Vanier BIA, helped bring the spectacular Moroccan-inspired table to life for the eighth annual Partage Beechwood. “You have been partners on this event for seven years, and I just don't know how you do it. Even a brief summer downpour couldn’t dampen the evening. As the rain moved through, the clouds parted and a stunning double rainbow appeared over the cemetery, bringing a little extra light to a night dedicated to helping neighbours facing food insecurity.

The need is significant. Guests heard that 3,691 people in a community of 17,380 used the food bank this year. That is more than one in five residents, with 65 per cent of those turning to it being new clients. Funds raised help keep fresh and culturally appropriate food on the shelves while also providing meals for youth taking part in community programs.

“Partage means share,” guests were reminded during the evening — sharing a meal, each other’s company and support for a community facing a growing food crisis.

Vanier resident chef Dave Godsoe returned for his third year to create the evening’s feast, with much of the produce grown locally at Rideau Pines Farm.
