Three Rivers Charter School is a 1st-8th grade free public school in Fort Bragg, located on the Mendocino College Coast Center campus. With approximately 90 students spread over four classrooms, Three Rivers is a small-school option open to families living in any school district on the Mendocino Coast. “Small and Mighty” is how some have described the school with its many offerings for students and families. Three Rivers has dedicated, credentialed teachers and hard working staff who bring an array of programs and supports to the educational community. Here are five aspects of of Three Rivers that make the school a special place: School Events: From Family Dances and BBQs to Science Fair Night, Community BINGO and a Variety Show, Three Rivers offers many opportunities throughout the school year for families to come together to celebrate student learning, get involved and have fun together. The Parent Teacher Network, open to all, meets quarterly with dinner and childcare provided and is a chance for parent/caregivers to connect, hear school updates, give feedback and plug into volunteer opportunities. Three Rivers also puts on Spirit Week annually as the school year begins with dress up days, Field Day, a Wacky Fashion Show and class competitions. Student & Family Support: Social Emotional Learning is a key element in each of the classes at Three Rivers. A Student Support Counselor leads student groups daily to teach social skills and works with both students and parent/caregivers to provide support. A Reading Intervention Program as well as Homework Club afterschool offer additional academic support for students. Electives & Enrichment: A vibrant mix of opportunities designed to inspire curiosity and help every student discover new interests are offered at the school. With a large focus on the arts, Three Rivers provides weekly Storytelling class at all grade levels and a Music Teacher will be leading sessions in each class this year as well. Whole school Friday electives rotate each semester and include topics such as crochet, gardening, school newspaper, art, student council and mindfulness. A committee of Jr. High students design and produce a yearbook that is provided to each student for free every year. After School Program: The TIDES After School Program is FREE for all and offered daily. TIDES activities have a strong STEAM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) and the much loved program features healthy snacks, outdoor play, academic support and engaging enrichment experiences. From year to year Three Rivers also offers various after school sports sessions such as wrestling, soccer and basketball. Meal Program: Three Rivers offers FREE breakfast and lunch to all students daily. Nutritious lunches are prepared by Harvest Market, just across the highway and breakfast is served off the breakfast cart each morning.
