Руководитель Синайской больницы в Балтиморе уходит на Западное побережье, пока ищут преемника

There’s a change at the top of Sinai Hospital. Amy Shlossman, senior vice president of LifeBridge Health and president of Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center, is leaving the Baltimore institution this month to take a position on the West Coast with Oregon Health and Science University. She has been at LifeBridge since 2023. “Amy’s leadership has strengthened Sinai and Grace, making a lasting difference in the communities we serve,” said Leslie Simmons, executive vice president and chief operating officer of LifeBridge Health. “She brought a clear vision for advancing quality, access and engagement, and she inspired our teams to deliver on that vision every day. Her leadership has strengthened our hospitals and helped position them for continued success. We are grateful for her many contributions and wish her the very best in this next chapter.” Shlossman’s tenure included a $61.6 million renovation of Grace Medical Center and the opening of The Factory, a community center that supports workforce development, food access and population health in West Baltimore. “I am deeply grateful to our extraordinary team members and proud of what we have achieved together across Sinai Hospital and Grace Medical Center. I came to Maryland inspired by LifeBridge Health’s commitment to community-centered care, and what I found has exceeded every expectation,” Shlossman said. For Shlossman, the move to Oregon brings her back to a place where she worked previously, as she served as CEO of the American Red Cross in Oregon and Southwest Washington from 2014 to 2017. Shlossman also had stints in the healthcare industry in the Bay Area and Phoenix. While this month marks the end of her tenure in Baltimore, she said she is proud of what she and the rest of the team accomplished over the past few years. “Together, our teams have transformed care delivery — building a culture where every voice matters, elevating quality to the top in the state and expanding access, so more patients receive timely care. Behind every improvement is a patient whose experience was better because of our team. It has been a true privilege to work alongside such dedicated colleagues, board members and community partners,” Shlossman said. This comes at a time when Sinai Hospital is furthering its services for the Jewish community. Just this month, the hospital announced a new employee guide that will help team members better understand the unique requirements of observant Jewish hospital patients. The booklet discusses Sabbath escorts, and the rules of the Sabbath that Jews follow. It mentions the Sabbath-designated bathrooms in the hospital, which have lights and sinks that are compliant with the rules of Shabbat. It mentions the holidays and creates a list of volunteers that can come in and blow the shofar. The booklet mentions where prayer books can be found, discusses the sukkah that will continue to be built at the hospital and kosher food. Led by Sinai Hospital’s Jewish chaplain, Rabbi Jeffrey Orkin, this effort has taken several months and includes a new walking path and process for Sabbath observant Jews coming to the emergency room. Founded 160 years ago, Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest in Baltimore and is located in the midst of some of Baltimore’s most observantly Jewish neighborhoods, just southeast of Pikesville. For many Baltimore Jews, it is the closest and most convenient hospital. LifeBridge Health Chief Operating Officer Leslie Simmons will serve as the hospital’s interim president while the search for a permanent replacement for Shlossman is conducted. The hospital has yet to say what the timeline for that process is. [email protected]
