Шreveпорт повысит зарплату водителям мусоровозов до $21,78 в час для сокращения задержек вывоза

Shreveport Raises Garbage Driver Pay as City Works to Reduce Pickup Delays SHREVEPORT, La. — Shreveport is taking additional steps to address ongoing garbage pickup delays, including higher pay for commercial drivers, while city leaders say residents will not face an increase in trash collection rates. The city says the most significant delays tend to begin on Monday and Tuesday, when collection routes are heaviest. Once crews fall behind early in the week, the disruption can carry over into later collection days and affect bulk pickup schedules. To help improve staffing, Shreveport has increased the minimum pay for garbage truck drivers with commercial driver’s licenses to $21.78 an hour. The city plans to cover the additional compensation within its existing budget rather than increasing the amount residents pay for garbage service. Public Works Director Jarvis Morgan has emphasized that the delays are not the result of crews failing to do their jobs. The department continues to operate with staffing challenges while employees work to complete demanding collection routes across the city. Shreveport has approximately 40 garbage driver positions, and city leaders are working to fill enough of those jobs to restore more consistent service. For now, residents are being asked for patience as the city works to get garbage collection back on schedule and strengthen the workforce needed to keep routes running on time.
