Партнерство Rhode Island Energy и Sense: новое приложение помогает клиентам отслеживать потребление электроэнергии в реальном времени

App can help Rhode Island Energy customers manage their bills As fall approaches, Rhode Island Energy customers are gearing up for the electricity rate increase that typically takes effect in October. But this year, there's a new tool to help customers manage their bills. Rhode Island Energy is partnering with Sense to introduce a new app that allows ratepayers to track their electricity usage in real-time. "We have studies that show that consumers save between 4% and 8% on average on their electrical usage by using the Sense app," Sense COO Karen Rubin said. The Sense app is free for Rhode Island Energy customers. It breaks down electricity usage by appliance, giving users a tool to determine for themselves where energy savings could be. "It lets me know in the middle of the month if I'm trending higher or lower so I can make changes and help take control of my spending," Rubin said. "It also compares you to homeowners near you in your state or region or with similar homes as you." The first of its kind partnership became possible once Rhode Island Energy began installing new smart meters last year. To date, Gooding says more than 500,000 new smart meters have been installed statewide. "We're 99% through our smart meter installation throughout the state," Rhode Island Energy Smart Meter Manager Nicole Gooding said. In previous years, one of the best ways for customers to understand their energy usage would have been the breakdown provided on their bills, Gooding said. "This is really the first opportunity for people to get insights behind the kilowatt hour usage that people see on their bill, so it's the appliances, it's seeing your usage in real-time, so you can see right now, what's driving that energy use," Gooding said. "We thought this would be a great benefit for customers to take advantage of."
