MELBOURNE, FLA. — Retired U.S. Space Force Maj. Gen. Timothy Sejba, a past STARCOM commander and former Special Assistant to the Vice Chief of Space Operations, will bring his extensive military and space leadership experience to Florida Tech in the new role of Military Affairs Advisor to the President. “We are pleased to add Maj. Gen. Sejba’s expertise to our team as we develop new ways to collaborate with the U.S. military in meeting our nation’s educational and research priorities,” said Florida Tech President John Nicklow, Ph.D. “We appreciate his valuable perspective honed while serving our nation.” A decorated and innovative leader, Sejba was most recently responsible for assisting in management of service priorities for organizing, training and equipping the United States Space Force. From July 2023 to July 2025, he was Commander, Space Training and Readiness Command (STARCOM), where he was responsible for preparing the USSF and more than 8,600 Guardians to prevail in competition and conflict through innovative education, training, doctrine and test activities. “I’m honored to work with a university that has such a proud legacy of ensuring its students are ready to meet tomorrow’s technological challenges,” Sejba said. “From its founding to support NASA during the Space Race to today, Florida Tech continues to provide trusted and innovative education and research that remain valuable resources for civilians and those who serve in uniform.” Sejba graduated in 1995 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. He was commissioned into the Air Force through the Reserve Officer Training Corps as a distinguished graduate. He served in a wide variety of operations and acquisition leadership positions within the Air Force, National Reconnaissance Office, Defense Threat Reduction Agency and U.S. Strategic Command. His assignments included duties as a Flight Commander, Project Manager, Executive Officer, Congressional Liaison, Squadron Commander, Group Commander, Deputy Program Director, Program Director, Program Executive Officer and Field Command Commander. Sejba is no stranger to the Florida Tech community. He served as commencement keynote speaker for December 2024 graduation exercises and was the F. Alan Smith Distinguished Lecturer in February with a presentation titled, “Three Waves of Space Force-Led Innovation: Transportation To, In, and From Space.” Over his career, Sejba has been recognized with multiple awards and decorations, including the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters and Joint Service Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters.
