Компания SDEC и Mahindra расширяют сотрудничество на рынке строительной техники Саудовской Аравии

Saudi Diesel Equipment Company (SDEC) is looking to strengthen its position in Saudi Arabia’s expanding construction equipment market through its partnership with Indian manufacturer Mahindra, targeting demand from infrastructure, industrial and municipal projects as well as the country’s growing equipment rental sector. The partnership, which focuses exclusively on Mahindra’s backhoe loader range, combines Mahindra’s engineering capabilities with SDEC’s sales, service and parts-distribution infrastructure in the kingdom, Hazem Shahin, Sales Director, tells Gulf Construction. “Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure expansion requires equipment that is dependable, efficient, and supported locally,” Shahin says. “Our partnership addresses these needs by combining Mahindra’s proven engineering with SDEC’s service centre and parts distribution network, enabling faster response times.” He says SDEC also works closely with Mahindra’s engineering team to adapt and improve product features in response to customer requirements in Saudi Arabia. The alliance comes as Saudi Arabia continues to roll out major infrastructure and development programmes under Vision 2030, creating sustained requirements for earthmoving equipment for roads, utilities, site development and other construction projects. While Mahindra has a broad international construction equipment portfolio, SDEC’s Saudi partnership is currently concentrated on its backhoe loaders. Within the range, Shahin identifies the Mahindra EarthMaster SXL and VX as attracting the strongest interest from Saudi customers. The machines feature a 1.1-cu-m loader bucket capacity and dredging depth of close to 4.9 m, while their fuel-efficient common-rail direct-injection (CRDI) engines are intended to support the multipurpose loading, trenching and site-development applications frequently encountered on Saudi projects. The combination of versatility and operating economy is particularly relevant to contractors and rental fleets seeking to maximise equipment utilisation while controlling running costs, Shahin says. SDEC sees infrastructure and utility work as a particularly strong application for the Mahindra machines. “Mahindra backhoe loaders are best suited to infrastructure and utility projects such as road works, pipeline and cable trenching, and site levelling, as well as municipal maintenance and rental fleet deployment,” he says. “In these applications, the machine’s versatility in combining loading and digging in a single unit adds the most value.” Operating conditions present another important consideration in the Saudi equipment market, where high ambient temperatures, dust and abrasive terrain can place additional demands on engines, hydraulic systems and other components. Shahin says the Mahindra equipment supplied for Gulf conditions incorporates features intended to maintain reliability under demanding operating environments. “Typical features include enhanced cooling systems, heavy-duty air filtration, and components selected for high-temperature operation.” For Saudi earthworks and infrastructure applications, the machines also incorporate features intended to improve productivity and operator comfort. “Features such as strong dredging depth, a side-shift backhoe for working close to structures and utilities, and ergonomic joystick controls that reduce operator fatigue over long shifts make the range well suited to Saudi earthworks,” Shahin points out. Configurations are also matched to local operating conditions, including reinforced undercarriages and cooling packages designed for sustained operation in abrasive and dusty environments. With fuel representing a significant component of equipment operating costs, efficiency is another area in which SDEC sees an opportunity to differentiate the Mahindra range. The company says it works with Mahindra to provide equipment that optimises fuel consumption, with engine technology and system controls contributing to both efficiency and lower emissions. The emphasis on operating costs extends to equipment monitoring and maintenance. SDEC offers telematics and remote-monitoring capabilities as an option, allowing customers to track machine performance and maintenance requirements. “TMS is one of the main features offered to our customers as an option,” Shahin says. “It provides information on equipment performance and maintenance schedules, improves fleet management, and helps reduce unplanned downtime – all of which result in lower lifecycle operating costs.” Mahindra has also upgraded its EarthMaster backhoe loader range with a higher-output engine, a larger and more comfortable operator cabin, and iMAXX telematics for remote monitoring of fleet and equipment. SDEC is working to bring these enhancements to Saudi customers, complementing its existing telematics-enabled offering. SDEC backs equipment sales with operator training and technical support, with the company seeking to use its local service infrastructure as a key element of the Mahindra proposition. “SDEC provides operator induction and machine-specific training at handover, covering safe operating procedures, routine maintenance checks and site safety protocols, delivered by our trained technical team,” Shahin says. The company tracks the effectiveness of its training and support through customer feedback, machine uptime and records of incidents and service calls throughout the equipment’s operating life. Shahin says the combination of Mahindra’s engineering capabilities and SDEC’s kingdom-wide sales and after-sales network gives the partnership a platform to compete for customers seeking reliable equipment and local support. The equipment rental sector is emerging as an increasingly important source of demand as contractors seek to manage capital expenditure and gain access to machinery according to project requirements. SDEC expects this trend to support demand for versatile machines such as backhoe loaders. “Demand for earthmoving equipment in Saudi Arabia continues to grow steadily, driven by Vision 2030 giga-projects, infrastructure expansion and the increasing shift towards equipment rental as a delivery model,” Shahin says. He sees Mahindra occupying a position in the mid-market segment, where customers are looking for a combination of versatility, reliability and cost effectiveness.
