В Шри-Ланке найден мертвым шотландский музыкант Томас Кроуфорд

Scottish singer found dead at sacred temple in Sri Lanka Thomas Crawford, 54, had been living in Sri Lanka as a musician. Police in Sri Lanka have launched an investigation after a Scots singer was found dead near a sacred temple. The body of Thomas Crawford, 54, was discovered in the upper courtyard of a religious site in Thihagoda, Southern Province of Sri Lanka, on August 16. Worshippers arriving at the temple for religious activities that afternoon raised the alarm. Officers attended the scene and recovered a scooter and motorcycle helmet. Police traced the scooter's registration and found it had been rented in a nearby town earlier that day. The Glasgow-born singer had been staying at a popular hostel around one hour away in Weligama. The Record understands he left the resort in the morning and told staff he planned to travel to the coastal city of Hambantota, which was badly hit by the 2004 tsunami. Tihagoda Police say investigations into the death continue but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. Thomas had been living in Sri Lanka for several years, sharing videos of his music and travels online. In a recent post he revealed he had recorded an album called 'Master of Miracles' - which featured religious music - at his accommodation, Sugar Co-Living in Weligama. The rental properties cater to travellers and digital nomads, described as a beachfront co-living overlooking the Indian Ocean. Sugar Co-Living boss Praveen Ariyaratne told the Record he met Thomas three years ago and they became close pals. Leading the tributes he said: "Thomas was a very talented and kind person. He was involved in a lot of music, art and charity work." Another loved one said: "Rest in peace Tommy my brother, I hope you get to where you were heading." A third added: "My heart is sad, we had lots of fun and laughter and I'll miss you my brother." A Foreign Office Spokesperson said: "We are currently supporting the family of a deceased British National in Sri Lanka."
