В Арканзасе пройдет беговое мероприятие в костюмах бабочек в память о погибшей Саванне Ливли

Savannah Lively’s love for purple butterflies didn’t end with her far-too-short life. Even after she was killed in a car accident in 2025 at age 24, her family has kept her spirit fluttering on through the Savannah Lively Butterfly Legacy. Savannah’s parents, Jimmy and Jennifer Lively, said butterflies were more than just a favorite for their daughter. Savannah saw them as a symbol of transformation, and her family said she had a gift for seeing “the beauty in everyone and everything that others couldn't see.” They described her as someone who believed in people, encouraged them and had a huge heart. Jimmy said Savannah was a “military brat” who lived in many places and never took anything for granted, understanding the sacrifices military families make. To continue her legacy, the foundation is hosting a “spirit costume 5K” in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on the Greenway Trail on Oct. 31. The race is scheduled to start at 8 a.m., with signups beginning at 6:30 a.m. Organizers said there will be no on-site registrations after 7:30 a.m. The event will include costume contests for kids, groups, individuals, pets and couples. Organizers also plan 10 age categories, with male and female winners in each category, plus an overall male and overall female winner. The 5K supports the foundation’s annual scholarships and other causes Savannah cared about. Each year, the foundation awards a scholarship to a high school student entering the education field, along with another $500 scholarship for a high school student going into fine arts such as dance, photography or art. Her parents said Savannah was in college to become an educator and wanted to incorporate dance into the classroom. The foundation also supports causes tied to Savannah’s love for animals and her concern for homeless veterans, including no-kill shelters and homeless veteran foundations. Her parents said the foundation focuses on funding scholarships early in the year, then shifts toward helping animals and homeless veterans as colder weather approaches. People who want to participate can find 5K details online or show up in downtown Hot Springs at the Greenway Trail. The foundation is also looking for sponsors, donors and volunteers, with forms available on the website.
