Sanford International to debut ‘Folds of Honor Friday’ during tournament SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Sanford International has announced its debut “Folds of Honor Friday” during the tournament’s opening round on Sept. 11, raising scholarship funds for local military and first responder families. Folds of Honor is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships for families of fallen or disabled American military service members and first responders. On Friday, September 11, Folds of Honor Friday will debut during the first round of the Sanford International. The Opening Ceremony will feature a performance of the national anthem, a color guard presentation, a flyover by four F-16 Fighter jets, and a ceremonial opening tee shot by Sanford Children’s Ambassador, Owen Ragsdale. “Helping provide an education to the families who have sacrificed so much and who need and deserve our help will make a life-changing difference. To have Folds of Honor Friday on the 25thanniversary of 9/11 clearly demonstrates that freedom isn’t free,” said Folds of Honor founder and CEO Lt. Col. Dan Rooney. Sanford International, through its partnership and participation in Folds of Honor Friday, will provide scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled military service members and first responders within the Sioux Falls area. “The Sanford International is proud to partner with an organization like Folds of Honor, whose mission goes beyond honoring our military and first responders to actively improving their families’ lives through education,” said Sanford International Tournament Director Davis Trosin. Patrons of the 9th annual Sanford International are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue throughout the weekend.
