Сандро Маркос единогласно избран спикером большинства Палаты представителей Филиппин

MANILA, Philippines — When Sandro Marcos entered the House of Representatives in 2022, he was a first-term congressman learning the workings of the chamber. Three years later, he took on a much bigger role as House majority leader, putting him at the center of the House’s legislative agenda. Marcos was unanimously elected majority leader at the opening of the 20th Congress on July 28, 2025. The position made him the spokesman of the House majority and placed him in charge of directing deliberations on the floor. He also concurrently chairs the Committee on Rules, which handles matters involving the House rules, its calendar of bills, and the preparation of its Order of Business and Calendar of Business. That responsibility became apparent early in the 20th Congress. By January 2026, Marcos reported that 7,030 bills and 645 resolutions had already been filed during the first 22 session days of the new Congress. Of these, 86 measures had been approved, including 12 measures endorsed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council, or LEDAC. Marcos has repeatedly emphasized the importance of moving priority measures through the legislative process. In February, he pointed to the progress of eight LEDAC priority bills that had reached advanced committee stages. He described the committee process as important for building consensus, refining policies, and making sure measures were ready before reaching the floor.
