SandBar Nashville to close after 2026 as oneC1TY redevelopment moves forward NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — SandBar Nashville says it will close after 2026 as redevelopment plans move forward at oneC1TY in West Nashville. In a social-media announcement, SandBar said the property where the bar and sand-volleyball venue operates is being sold to developers. The business said it plans to remain open for the rest of 2026. “It’s a bittersweet thing to share because this place has become so much more than a bar and sand courts,” SandBar wrote. “For so many of you, it’s been a part of your lives for years.” The closure announcement comes as Crescent Communities and oneC1TY Nashville unveiled plans for NOVEL oneC1TY, a 313-unit residential development planned for the health- and wellness-focused mixed-use district near the intersection of Interstate 440 and Charlotte Avenue. The development is planned for the parcel that houses C1TYBLOX, the retail and sand-volleyball village built from repurposed shipping containers during the early stages of oneC1TY’s development, according to a Sept. 2 announcement from oneC1TY and Crescent Communities. C1TYBLOX is expected to continue operating through the end of 2026 as redevelopment begins. oneC1TY announcement RELATED COVERAGE | Acme Feed & Seed owner appeals massive property tax hike Developers said NOVEL oneC1TY is expected to be completed in 2029 and include studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Plans also call for 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and a public plaza. Crescent Communities and Cambridge, the developer of oneC1TY, said they are exploring ways to carry beloved C1TYBLOX elements into the next phase of the development, including the possibility of bringing sand volleyball back to the site. “C1TYBLOX was created as a ‘temporary’ activation strategy 12 years ago,” Alan Aschenbrenner, Cambridge senior vice president of development, said in the announcement. He said the village has hosted about 20 local food, health, fitness and creative-arts tenants over the years. SandBar, which said it has spent nearly a decade hosting volleyball, drinks and celebrations, encouraged customers to continue visiting, booking courts and attending events during its final months at the site. The business did not announce an exact closing date or say whether it plans to relocate.
