Полиция Сагинэва раскрыла все девять убийств 2026 года

Saginaw police say they’ve solved all nine homicides in 2026 Deputy chief credits technology, collaboration and community SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) — Saginaw police say they have identified the people responsible for all nine homicides that have taken place in the city this year. Deputy Police Chief Matthew Gerow said his agency credits its staff, collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, technology and the community for solving 100% of the crimes. “We were able to solve nine of the nine homicides this year, and that’s extraordinary,” Gerow said. License plate readers aid investigations Gerow said the department has expanded its use of license plate reader technology throughout the city. “We’ve developed the use of license plate reader technology. We have them throughout the city, and when we have an incident like this, we review, if we get a plate, or if we get a vehicle description, we can review that and develop leads,” Gerow said. “And it’s also the great work of the detectives and the officers there on the road developing these leads. And also citizens coming forward and speaking to us and trusting the police, and wanting to get closure for themselves and justice for their loved ones.” Seven people have been criminally charged in connection with the homicides, Gerow said. Two other cases are being reviewed by the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office for potential criminal charges. Closure for families Gerow said solving 100% of the murders this year means a lot to him and his law enforcement partners. “You can never bring back their loved one, but it helps to bring them closure,” Gerow said. “I try to put myself in their shoes. And what I would want if something happened to my loved one, then I would want the police to do their job and find the person that’s responsible for committing the violent act against them.” Gerow said the national average for solving murders is rising, from 55% to 62%. Saginaw police also said there has been an uptick recently in minors involved in violent crime. They are urging parents to do what they can to prevent their child from ending up in the criminal justice system.
