Роббин Гууд отвергла слухи о романе с Фамбо и анонсировала выход нового EP

Robbyn Goode turns up the volume amid Fambo rumours Rising female dancehall artiste Robbyn Goode has been caught in dancehall’s rumour mill—but the fast-rising singer would rather turn up the microphone than turn down the gossip. The emerging artiste has become a regular fixture on entertainment blogs and Instagram pages, largely because of her close friendship with dancehall veteran Future Fambo. A stream of cosy photographs has kept tongues wagging, but none caused quite as much commotion as one cheekily captioned, “Beauty and the Beast”. The post sent social media sleuths into overdrive, with fans wondering whether romance was brewing behind the scenes. Goode and Fambo have since been photographed together at events and restaurants across the Corporate Area, adding further fuel to the fire. Goode, however, is standing firmly by one account. “We’re just friends,” she insisted. “I have been hanging out with Fambo for months now. We’re really good friends, but I see a lot of hate and speculation online since he has taken over TikTok,” she said. “I don’t pay the haters any mind. My music speaks for itself.” What Goode will confirm is that Fambo has become an important figure in her fledgling career — a friend, financier and mentor helping her negotiate the shark-infested waters of Jamaica’s music industry. “He has really given me some great advice and mentorship,” she said. It is valuable support for an artiste attempting to build her career independently, without the muscle, money and machinery of a major record label. Yet while her closeness to Fambo may be earning clicks, Goode is determined to ensure her music becomes the real story. Her latest single, Mic Check, is beginning to generate chatter of its own, and the singer is eager to discover whether its early buzz can survive the most unforgiving test in Jamaican music: a live audience. “I haven’t officially performed it yet, so I’m looking forward to seeing the response at a live performance,” she said. The song, remarkably, almost never made it out of the studio. Goode had written an entirely different track for the rhythm and arrived ready to record it. Producer Blue, however, was not convinced. His verdict was brutally simple: the song was too “pretty”, and its subject matter was unlikely to strike a nerve with listeners. So Goode scrapped the sweetness and went searching for something with teeth. She found it in the wreckage of a failed relationship. The result was Mic Check, a fiery record powered by anger, disappointment and the emotional bruises left behind when love goes sour. It is less a tender farewell than a warning shot delivered through the speakers. Goode is not entirely new to making noise. Her biggest release to date is Irie Love, a collaboration with reggae stalwart Anthony B and produced by Buggie. The association with one of reggae’s most recognisable voices helped place her music before a broader audience. “Anthony is a reggae icon, so it’s not surprising,” she said of the song’s popularity. “I am honoured to have been able to do a song with him.” Away from the recording booth, Goode has been quietly sharpening her stagecraft. She has made impromptu appearances alongside Fambo at several events, including performances at Taboo. Her most recent rehearsed outing came at ‘Live and Loud’, where she performed with a live band — an experience that only deepened her hunger for the stage. She missed a cameo at Vybz Kartel’s ‘Return of The Building’ at the National Arena. “Fambo said he forgot to call me up,” she said, laughing good-naturedly. “But the vibe was popping, a lot of dancers were up there doing their thing and he got huge forwards so I will wait for my opportunity.” There are no confirmed bookings on her calendar just yet, although discussions are underway with several promoters. “I can’t wait to touch the stage again,” she said. When that opportunity arrives, Goode may have considerably more ammunition in her musical chamber. Discussions have already begun about a possible EP, with several unreleased songs positioning themselves as early standouts. Among them is Story, which is set to appear on the forthcoming Rum and Boom rhythm with DJ Supa Hype. She has also recorded Boss Girl on the Wicked YS rhythm, another project connected to the popular producer and Future Fambo. “Funny enough, about three weeks ago I was discussing doing an EP with someone,” Goode revealed. “I feel like the time is coming, so stay tuned.” For the moment, the photographs with Fambo will continue to attract whispers, raised eyebrows and feverish online speculation. Goode appears perfectly content to let the rumour merchants have their fun. After all, Mic Check is ready, and Robbyn Goode intends to make sure her voice is louder than the gossip.
