Its new brand-positioning campaign explores what modern ambition looks like – from career shifts and entrepreneurship to investing, global opportunities and multiple income streams – and reinforces RMB Private Bank’s role as a partner beyond traditional banking. “Ambition deserves a partner, and that partner is RMB Private Bank,” says Gareth Matthews, chief executive officer of RMB Private Bank. Here, Matthews shares the thinking behind the campaign. Why launch a new brand positioning campaign? RMB Private Bank has long championed the ambitions of South Africa's young professionals. As economic realities, career paths and definitions of success continue to evolve, we've recognised the need to ensure that our brand remains relevant, relatable and aligned to the lives of our clients. Today's professionals face a very different environment than previous generations. They're navigating career changes, entrepreneurship, global opportunities, digital disruption and evolving financial priorities. This campaign reflects our commitment to understanding those realities and continuing to support our clients through every stage of their journey Is this a rebrand for RMB Private Bank? No, this isn't a rebrand. It's an evolution of how we express who we are and the value we deliver to clients. Our heritage, values and commitment to exceptional service remain unchanged. What has changed is the environment in which our clients operate, and our positioning aims to better reflect the role we play in helping them navigate that environment with confidence. What’s the inspiration behind the repositioning? At its core, the campaign was inspired by the evolving ambitions of young professionals. Success today looks very different from what it did a decade ago. Professionals are building businesses, pursuing multiple income streams, investing earlier, working globally and seeking greater balance in their lives. We wanted our brand to reflect the realities of modern ambition and demonstrate how RMB Private Bank supports clients as they pursue their goals. What is your message to young professionals? The central message is that ambition deserves a partner. Behind every promotion, business venture, investment decision or long-term financial goal is an individual striving to build something meaningful. Our role is to provide the expertise, guidance and support that helps clients turn ambition into achievement. What makes RMB Private Bank different from other private banks? While products and services are important, what truly differentiates RMB Private Bank is our relationship-led approach. We take the time to understand our clients, their goals, challenges and aspirations. By combining personalised banking, wealth management, investment expertise and trusted advice, we're able to provide solutions that are tailored to individual needs rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. Why is the focus on young professionals important? Young professionals represent one of the most dynamic and influential growth segments in the market. They are shaping industries, creating businesses, driving innovation and redefining what success looks like. Many are making important financial decisions earlier in their lives and are looking for a banking partner that understands both where they are today and where they want to be tomorrow. We've been supporting this segment for years, and this campaign reaffirms our commitment to helping them build long-term financial success. What do you hope audiences take away from this campaign? We want people to see RMB Private Bank as more than a bank. We want them to see a trusted partner that understands their ambitions, appreciates the realities they face and is committed to helping them achieve what matters most. How does this positioning reflect the future of Private Banking? The future of private banking is increasingly personal. Clients expect more than transactions. They want insights, expertise, personalised guidance and meaningful relationships. They want a banking partner who understands their world and can help them make better financial decisions. This positioning reflects that shift and reinforces our commitment to delivering value beyond banking. What does success look like for this campaign? Success is ultimately about connection and relevance. If clients see themselves reflected in the campaign, if they better understand the value RMB Private Bank brings to their lives, and if the campaign strengthens our position as a trusted partner for ambitious professionals, then we will have achieved our objective.
