RIT welcomes newest class of students from Rochester City Scholars Program Penfield, N.Y. — The Rochester Institute of Technology welcomed its 17th cohort of students coming from the Rochester City Scholars Program. The students come from seven different public, charter, and urban suburban schools located in the city. The program was founded in 2009 to provide students with financial challenges the chance to attend RIT tuition-free. “I’ll be studying computer science for my bachelor’s degree,” said Carlos Gaston, an RIT student. “And I got accepted to the combined cellular program, which means my master's will be in cybersecurity.” Since its inception, the program has provided more than 370 local high school graduates with the opportunity to attend RIT tuition-free. _______
