В сериале «Сило» раскрыта страшная правда: эскадрилья Шарлотт стала приманкой для ядерного удара Ирана

Silo season 3, episode 7 left us with about five different disasters happening at once. We heard Lukas (Avi Nash) and Kennedy (Rick Gomez) being ambushed by gunfire shortly after they stepped outside, Kennedy's voice cutting through the static at the last possible second that caused Juliette and Co. to call off the Judicial bombing, and Camille (Alexandria Riley) turning her fury on Amy Hansen right in front of Sims (Common) to force a confession out of him. In the Before Times, Daniel (Ashley Zukerman) and Helen (Jessica Henwick) had just watched Per Stensen's [Colin Hanks] drilling operation break ground on what's apparently going to become a network of fifty-one silos. This week, episode 8, "Gray Goo," picks up all of those threads and then some, and it is a pretty information-dense hour. This is the episode where the Before Times finally stops teasing its big answer and just gives it to us. We also spend noticeably more time in the Before Times this episode than we did in the previous couple weeks, which does make "Gray Goo" a slower burn overall even with everything it's got going. It's also the episode where all that slow-building chemistry between Helen and Daniel finally gets its moment, and that beat is sweet and earns a laugh. That said, I think it might have felt more real if it had come an episode earlier. Last week's Before Times stuff pulled focus onto Per Stensen and Charlotte for most of its runtime, and I felt a little disconnected from Daniel and Helen as our sleuthing duo because of it, so getting the romantic payoff this week feels great on its own, but it arrives after a bit of a gap rather than as the natural next beat. Deputy Turley and Calso make it to 'level 17' The episode starts by showing us what we had only heard over radio from last week's ambush. Lukas has been shot, the bullet passing straight through his radio first, and Kennedy is dragging him toward Silo 17's airlock, banging and shouting to be let in. The residents inside who we met in season 2, understandably terrified of poison contamination, hesitate until Lukas makes the logical case that if there were poison on him, the bullet holes would already have finished the job. They're let in, and Jimmy/Solo (Steve Zahn) helps tend to Lukas alongside Audrey. Jimmy manages to fix the radio using "the book," and the reconnection scene that follows is quite funny under the tension with Kennedy fumbling his own code name before finally getting through to confirm the kids are alive. We see the radio sequence from Silos 17's side where Juliette immediately calls off Teddy's delivery, the bombing plan, which is our confirmation that this contact is exactly what saved everyone back in episode 7's final seconds. Juliette herself gets on the line with Jimmy directly, and it's a lovely reunion, though they are still speaking in code, and there's a sweet instance when she asks him about the family, meaning the few surviving residents of Silo 17. There is no lingering hostility between the kids and Jimmy as we saw last season; quite the opposite, and they seem pretty protective of him. Jimmy, for his part, seems to have truly grown into a position of responsibility. Before Times: 50 silos Back at Stensen's farm facility, Anna (Morven Christie) reveals the digger Daniel and Helen watched is only the prototype. Nine more are being built (10 diggers total), each capable of digging five silos, 50 in all. The stated purpose starts out sounding almost noble-seed banks, preserved art, literature, and science. There's a lot of pushback from Helen, who is skeptical, as she should be, before Turman clarifies that the silos are also meant to hold people to repopulate the earth after whatever's coming wipes it out. Per Stensen has a line where he mentions that the end of the world can't be stopped, only survived. The stakes have now been spelled out. A marriage on the rocks, a father's secret At four in the morning, the Algorithm checks in on Camille, informing her that aerial surveillance revisited Silo 17 and found Kennedy and Lukas's bodies gone. It orders her to find out the real reason Juliette sent them there in the first place. Meanwhile, Knox (Shane McRae) tracks down his estranged father, Gus, for the first time in years, and it does not go well. He presses Gus about whether Harwood had anything to do with the stolen supply goods, and Gus responds first with denial, then with some ugliness, and Knox knocks him out with a punch. Back in Silo 17, Kennedy and the group find a panel with paint oxidized from heat exposure, clearly welded shut, and welded, worryingly, from the inside. There's a pretty sad scene between Camille and Sims about Anthony (Oscar Coleman) of her half hoping the forgetting drug erases everything painful between them and half dreading it, since their son is apparently sharp enough that he'll be the last one to forget anyway. It's in this same conversation that Camille finally pushes Sims on the actual point: why did Juliette send her closest friends out for children she barely remembers meeting? In response, Sims accuses her of trying and failing to erase what happened to Juliette in Silo 17 and delivers one of the sharpest lines of the episode: if she can't believe Juliette really wants to help those kids, then Sims doesn't know her anymore. We as the audience know that he means it in the moment, but we also know it's a performance—Sims making absolutely sure Camille believes there's no ulterior motive behind Juliette's mission, or none that he's aware of. A body in the wall Kennedy and the gang get the welded panel open, and they discover a body in a cleaning suit – the sealed remains of Jimmy's mother. She was the one blocking the pipe. It's a devastating moment for Jimmy, and when Kennedy urges they move her, the kids immediately push back against Kennedy, insisting the body not be moved unless Jimmy is okay with it. It's a great beat, and it speaks to just how much of a family they've become since Juliette first visited Silo 17. Meanwhile, Paul Billings (Chinaza Uche) finally corners Gus with Knox at his side, and Knox, furious, demands to know what his father actually did. He promises no consequences in exchange for the truth, and Gus finally admits that one night, drinking with Ed Harwood (Ned Dennehy), he offered up an idea for a hidden transport system half-joking, and months later Harwood came back offering him a new life in exchange for the design. Gus doesn't know for certain whether Harwood ever actually built it, but he agrees to draw it out for them anyway. Bernard's confession Bernard (Tim Robbins) lays out a theory of how the silo network is structured with Silo 1 at the center, surrounded by seven outer groups. According to his theory, poison lines are routed hierarchically rather than sent individually to every silo. Bernard and Juliette debate the morality of capping the pipes without knowing why Silo 1 might want the power to kill a silo at all, and Bernard, in one of the episode's most affecting scenes, finally confesses his own guilt: he once poisoned a woman he loved, Mary Meadows, believing it was necessary to stop a silo from destroying itself, only to learn later it was all a lie. He vows to do everything he can now to fight the very system he once served. Elsewhere, Camille goes straight at the Algorithm demanding to know exactly how the rebels could stop the Safeguard. It refuses to tell her, and her response is chilling in its exhaustion as she practically dares it to kill her instead if it won't help her stop them. The real reason for the silos Stensen walks Daniel and Helen through the full list of existential threats: nuclear war, climate collapse, pandemic, asteroid impact, and artificial intelligence, and the one he singles out as most dangerous is nanotechnology, the exact field that made him the richest man alive, precisely because he understood how much cheaper a nanoweapon would be to build than a nuclear one. Daniel finally confronts them about the terrifying, driverless car ride we saw in episode 6 and gets confirmation that it was a way to make them personally feel the danger. Thurman explains that if the project leaks too early, it could either scare enemies into standing down or push them to destroy it before it's finished, so they plan to leak it eventually on their own terms. The plan is to have it dismissed publicly as "Stensen's Folly," a rich man's mad vanity project in the hope that it's a folly the world never actually needs. Daniel pushes further and gets the Iran connection confirmed. It turns out Iran built its own nano program in response to failed negotiations, and the so-called "dirty bomb" in the Dulles Tech Corridor was actually a nanoweapon, the event that dragged the country into war. Then comes the hardest question, what actually happened to Charlotte's squadron. The answer is horrifying. Her mission was meant to hit a secret Iranian nano facility near the Turkmenistan border, but her squad never reached the target. The strange cloud that took over her plane was Iran's own nanotech. The real backup plan, it turns out, was a 75-mile tunnel the Army Corps of Engineers had spent two years secretly digging beneath that same facility, detonated with a low-yield nuke the moment Charlotte's squad came under attack. Helen puts the horrifying pieces together out loud, concluding that the whole mission was designed to provoke a response and gauge Iran's capabilities, meaning Charlotte's squadron were bait. Charlotte, overhearing all of this, has a full breakdown, and it takes Dr. Crnkovich (Matt Craven) working her through breathing exercises to bring her back down. I still do not like the doctor one bit Rituals and emotional revelations Back in Silo 17, Kennedy tells Jimmy about the death rituals from his own silo, gathering in the orchard, lowering the body under a sheet, sharing kind words, biting into fruit before burying the rest as a way of returning someone to the earth and, someday, symbolically, back outside through the people who eventually eat that fruit. He offers to do the same for Jimmy's mother, reasoning that these kids, who've already seen so much death, deserve a gentler way to grieve. It's one of the most purely tender scenes this show has ever done. Investigating further, Kennedy and Lukas piece together exactly what happened: Jimmy's mother used a handsaw and her welding torch to cut the pipe, burning off poison as she went, until her fuel ran out, at which point she welded herself inside as a final permanent seal. Kennedy delivers the line that breaks the whole scene open: Jimmy's father gave his life to save him. His mother gave her life to save the entire silo. I think everyone watching was moved a little watching the sequence. Meanwhile, back in Silo 18, Shirley (Remmie Milner) uses that same information to design something safer, a pinch-and-cap method with triple redundancy instead of a straight cut, and the team sketches a plan to sneak someone in as a GWP supervisor to justify loud drilling near Judicial without raising alarms. While Paul's team searches Critical Supply for whatever's hiding Harwood's secret door, unable to move it with just two people, Juliette realizes a critical mistake: Silo 17's layout is mirrored relative to their own, meaning they've been sending Shirley toward the wrong access panel entirely. She scrambles to catch her before it's too late. The pitch Helen gets her own pointed one-on-one with Stensen, pressing him hard on the math: fifty silos, a hundred people each, five thousand employees at two hundred thousand dollars a year, roughly a billion dollars annually, money he insists he can sustain for a thousand years. She challenges him directly: Couldn't that fortune end homelessness, cure Alzheimer's, fund cancer research, and end poverty outright? Stensen insists those aren't his goals, since none of that money stops a single bad actor from building a nanoweapon in a basement for three hundred dollars and turning the world to gray goo. Then he finally reveals the actual point of the entire elaborate pitch is that they want Helen and Daniel to join the project. Anna sweetens the offer considerably, saying that Helen wouldn't even need to live in a silo, just within thirty miles; Atlanta qualifies, and the Times job she's been dangled is real, with Helen slated to be the one who eventually breaks the story to the world when the time comes. Helen, tempted but unwilling to buy into the premise, turns it down with one of the funniest lines of the season, saying she'd rather be vaporized outright than survive as an underground mole person with Stensen and Thurman. Charlotte, by contrast, accepts a spot as a drone pilot, partly because it means she gets to keep working alongside Victor. Anna makes one last pitch directly to Daniel, appealing to his original reason for entering politics—infrastructure reform—framing this as the biggest infrastructure project in human history and promising him whatever resources he thinks are needed. Daniel has a very moving scene afterward with Charlotte where he hands her a sprig of rosemary, something Victor had actually asked him to track down, and asks if it makes her think of anything. She identifies it immediately, then the memory comes flooding back. Their mother cooked roast chicken every single Sunday for two years because young Charlotte, convinced by something a classmate told her about what Sunday dinner was supposed to be, refused to come out of her room otherwise. Daniel, charmed, teases her for it, and Charlotte, overwhelmed, simply says, "I remember her," and breaks down in tears. It's a small, warm scene, and it doubles as their goodbye too, since Charlotte is choosing to stay behind. Helen ultimately leaves with Henry (okay, so that's what the name of the mysterious creepy right-hand man of Senator Thurman is!) to catch a helicopter, while delivering a bitterly funny "Good luck, Morlocks" for Stensen on her way out. But Daniel isn't done. He chases her down right as the helicopter's about to take off, climbing in and telling her to move over and make room. Helen, half laughing, asks if he's here to talk her into staying. He isn't, and he rattles off exactly why not: Stensen's clearly out of his mind, and if some idiot really does end up turning the world to gray goo, Daniel wants no part of riding it out underground with Stensen and Senator Thurman. Then he says the line that is sure to become a phenomenon, or I hope it does—I wanna turn to gray goo with you! Helen, stunned and grinning, makes him say it again, pretending she didn't hear him over the loud whirring of their helicopter. It's followed by a good laugh, and the two of them kiss as the helicopter lifts off the ground. It's a lovely, earned beat, and although I did not see it coming in that very moment of the episode, I'm glad we finally got the payoff. The trap closes Back in Silo 18, everything unravels very, very fast for my liking. Paul comes back from his Judicial contacts with a name, Ralf Melby, and it's a pretty gut-punch of a detail because that's the exact fake identity Judicial once used to try to entrap Sandy years earlier, which means their cover as a supervisor swap has been blown wide open. Elsewhere, Paul and Hank having discovered Ed had been behind the whole Critical Supply plot, finally give Orla's sister some closure telling her that Mike Davidson (Chris Fulton), Orla's own boyfriend, stole from Supply and killed her when she caught him, while leaving out everything about the hidden construction and the lightbulb theft underneath it all. And then, in the episode's gutting final beat Juliette is caught and Knox and Martha are left reeling, debating whether to fall back on the original plan to simply blow Judicial open, even with Juliette now inside. Martha's answer is the last thing we hear before the credits: she has no intention of living long enough to forget her. Verdict The Before Times finally paying off its entire season-long mystery in one episode was a pretty bold structural choice, and the Charlotte reveal that she and her squadron were bait for a nuclear strike is one of the darkest twists this show has pulled off. The pacing did occasionally strain under how much plot this episode was lifting. We saw the Harwood, Orla, and Judicial threads all resolving in the same hour, as the Before Times' biggest reveal made a couple of transitions feel rushed. Overall, this might be the most important episode of the season, dense almost to a fault, but it earns every one of its reveals, and it ends on a cliffhanger brutal enough that I have no idea how they're going to walk it back.
