Грузовик пожарного отряда в Вашингтон-тауншип сгорел после вызова

WASHINGTON — A primary rescue truck belonging to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department remains out of service after catching fire following a routine emergency call. The incident occurred roughly two weeks ago when the department returned to its station after responding to a motor vehicle accident. Chief David Gray noticed an unusual burning smell and subsequently discovered active flames underneath the cab of the rescue truck. Acting quickly, Chief Gray managed to drive the vehicle out of the station building, preventing potential structural damage to the facility, before successfully extinguishing the blaze. An initial assessment revealed extensive damage to the truck’s electrical wiring system. The vehicle is currently undergoing evaluation by the department’s insurance provider to determine whether the apparatus can be repaired or if it will be declared a total loss requiring a replacement. To ensure uninterrupted emergency coverage, the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department has temporarily redistributed its rescue gear and specialized tools among the remaining apparatus in its fleet. Officials emphasized that public safety and response times for residents in Washington Township will not be compromised. Mutual-aid partners from neighboring fire agencies across Daviess County are standing by to offer supplemental coverage and assistance whenever necessary. An investigation into the exact cause of the electrical fire remains ongoing.
