Совет города Ред-Дир рассматривает создание комитета по вопросам разнообразия и инклюзии

Red Deer city council considering diversity committee Published 4:31 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2026 Red Deer city council is considering setting up an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Coun. Tristin Brisbois proposed a Notice of Motion on Sept. 1 that council direct administration to evaluate the merit of a diversity committee as part of a “comprehensive review of council-established committee mandates and governance structures.” At a July 23 Committee of the Whole meeting, council directed staff to start a review by this fall and to come back with recommendations by the end of June 2027. If successful, Brisbois’ motion will ask staff to evaluate the intended and objectives of a diversity committee and whether that is the right way to go to meet council’s goal of ensuring the city is an “inclusive community where all residents have the opportunity to participate, contribute and feel a sense of belonging…” Council is also looking for feedback on what its role should be if a committee was set up and what its mandate, composition and governance model should be and what administrative, operational and financial implications might be involved. The motion will be debated and voted on at council’s Sept. 15 meeting.
