What many thought would never happen began June 22 when Resolve Earthworks and Environmental from Calgary began reclamation of the Esso lot south of the Town of High Prairie office across Highway 2. Resolve estimates the work will take about one month, but can vary due to weather and surprises which may occur. In an email June 24, High Prairie CAO David Joy says “. . . they are doing an environmental reclamation of the land so that it can be put on the market.” The old Esso gas station was torn down May 16, 2001 – just over 25 years ago! Councils since then have lobbied Esso to reclaim the land and put it up for sale. In other news, the Cenovus property in town is also being marketed by a commercial real estate firm out of Edmonton, Cushman and Wakefield.
