Жительница Луизианы опасается, что разрушенная дорога помешает скорой помощи добраться до нее

Rapides Parish road conditions raise emergency access concerns Family says deteriorating Powell Road could delay emergency response OTIS, La. (KALB) -A Rapides Parish resident says the condition of Powell Road near her home has gone unaddressed for nearly three years and could prevent emergency crews from reaching her family in a crisis. Christine Simmons said she is caring for a bedridden sister and fears the road’s condition could delay or endanger emergency responders. “I’m taking care of my invalid sister and if she needs emergency personnel immediately, she’s gonna be in trouble before they can even get to her,” Simmons said. “If they even don’t wreck their vehicle coming down this road, it’s a very dangerous situation.” Simmons said the road has been in its current state for roughly two and a half to three years and that past efforts to repair the road have been insufficient. “They’ll come out and they’ll put a little bit in a hole and then they’ll skip three or four holes and put a little bit more,” Simmons said. “What they put in there, you know, you run through it a few times and after a while, it’s gone.” Simmons said she has seen no repair attempts in at least a year. “We make phone calls, we ask for help, and there’s no response,” she said. “I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve seen a truck come down here to do any repairs at all. KALB reached out to Danny Bordelon, who represents District E on the Rapides Parish Police Jury. Bordelon said he recently visited Powell Road, took photographs, and has submitted paperwork to the Public Works Department. He said he is waiting for a response. Click here to report a typo.
