Quinn Duffy named ABC7 Athlete of the Month for July SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - This week we present to you our ABC7 Athlete of the Month for July. The honor goes to The Out-of-Door Academy’s (ODA) Quinn Duffy. He’s a rising senior, and when we first told you about him last month he was helping out at the school’s soccer camp. Duffy became a a mentor to so many of the younger kids in attendance as they learned lessons while playing the game they all share deep passion for, which is soccer. Duffy knows that this type of experience is going to be beneficial as he heads into his final high school season. “Have fun,” Duffy said. “No matter what you’re doing, it’s important to enjoy yourself no matter what you’re doing. Challenge yourself. If you’re in school and you don’t understand a question, raise your hand and ask.” Duffy is also a team captain of the boys soccer team and great student in classroom. For all of his efforts, we have a surprise for him. ABC7 partnered with Carl Reynolds Law to gift Duffy with a check of $500 for all of his hard work. Faculty and staff members at the school came together to help congratulate him on this honor. “I’m super honored,” Duffy said. “It’s obvious that not everyone’s hard work goes to be recognized. I’m honored to be able to be recognized in that way.” The ODA Athletic Director, Andres Parra, is very proud of Duffy too and the example that he sets for himself and others each day. “Quinn, in particular, he’s been a two-year starter,” Duffy said. “He’s a rising senior. He’s the most versatile player we have on the team. He’s played every position. As the players nominate him as a captain, it allows him to give back in that leadership ability too.” When it comes to what’s next, Duffy says whatever he will continue to encourage himself and others to do one thing. “No matter what you’re doing in life It’s always important to challenge yourself,” Duffy said. “The more that you challenge yourself, the more that you’ll continue to improve.” Copyright 2026 WWSB.
