Running from Sept. 16 through Dec. 1, the upcoming semester features expert-led classes across a wide range of subjects, including history, health, psychology, literature, and contemporary issues. POLIS, which stands for Program for Ongoing Learning in Information and Society, offers a relaxed classroom setting with no exams, grades, or mandatory prerequisites. Most two-hour courses will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Quincy University’s North Campus, located at the intersection of North 18th Street and Seminary Road. To participate, attendees pay a $15 semester membership fee alongside a $5 tuition fee per two-hour class. First-time attendees can take one course for free as part of an introductory offer. In addition to classroom instruction, this semester’s schedule highlights a full-day educational bus trip on Oct. 20 to the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The $105 trip fee covers motorcoach transportation, museum admission, guided tours, lunch, and driver gratuities. An in-person registration event will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Main Entrance Conference Room at the Ryan Center for Science, located on the university’s North Campus. Local seniors can register for classes, pay membership fees, and meet program organizers during this time.
