Queen Alexandra Charity achieves Investors in People gold accreditation Queen Alexandra Charity has achieved gold accreditation from Investors in People. The charity supports young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities through education at Queen Alexandra College, supported living and residential services, and community services. It is based in Birmingham. Investors in People is a benchmark for people management and assesses how organisations lead, support and develop their people. Gold accreditation is achieved by organisations that reflect strong performance across workplace culture, leadership, wellbeing and employee engagement. The charity undertook an assessment from Investors in People earlier this year, which included a staff survey and a range of interviews and focus groups with an independent assessor. It received gold accreditation due to its leaders being trusted by staff, making the organisation’s objectives clear, and inspiring and motivating its workforce to deliver. It was also recognised due to its culture of trust and ownership in the organisation where staff feel empowered to make decisions and act on them, measurement of performance and use of feedback, as well as clear recognition and reward. This created a culture of appreciation where staff are motivated to perform at their best. Bev Jessop, chief executive officer (CEO) – executive principal of Queen Alexandra Charity, said: “This is a significant achievement. Only a small proportion of organisations attain gold status, and it reflects an organisation where people feel valued, supported and empowered to make a positive difference. It is recognition of the culture we are building together, and the commitment employees show every day to delivering the very best for the people we support.” Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, added: “We’d like to congratulate Queen Alexandra Charity. Gold accreditation on We Invest in People is a fantastic effort for any organisation, and places the charity in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.”
