В Портленде пройдет конкурс мопсов в костюмах героев кинофраншиз «Barkbuster»

PUGapalooza returns to Portland Saturday Market with a ‘Barkbuster Movies’ pug pageant Published 4:30 am Wednesday, August 26, 2026 Calling all movie buffs, costume enthusiasts and owners of dogs with absolutely no shame about dressing them up: PUGapalooza is back, and this year’s stars are ready for their close-up. Portland Saturday Market and Pacific Pug Rescue are rolling out the red carpet for the second annual PUGapalooza on Saturday, Aug. 29, transforming the market into a celebration of pugs, pop culture and creativity. The event is presented by the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, with proceeds and donations supporting Pacific Pug Rescue. The centerpiece of the day is the Prettiest Pug Pageant, where the theme is “Barkbuster Movies.” Think Hollywood blockbusters, but with more wrinkles, shorter legs and more snoring. Pug parents are invited to dress their four-legged stars as their favorite movie characters and compete for the titles of Portland’s Prettiest Pug and People’s Choice. Judges from Guardian Veterinary Clinic and Pioneer Animal Hospital will be looking for creativity and originality, so expect plenty of competition on the Portland Saturday Market’s Main Stage. The pageant runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with contestants checking in at the information booth between 10:15 and 10:45 a.m. Pugs, pug mixes and other flat-faced breeds are all welcome to audition for their big moment. And the pageant is just the opening act. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Hands on Art will host a Paw Print Pottery CRAFTernoon, giving attendees the chance to create a custom ornament featuring their furry friend’s paw print. Advance registration is required and space is limited. After the pageant, the Market’s Main Stage will shift from Hollywood to live entertainment with local music from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The lineup will be announced on Portland Saturday Market’s website and social channels. Movie memorabilia will also be making an appearance in the form of the 2026 PUGapalooza commemorative poster, available for $5, with $1 from each sale donated to Pacific Pug Rescue. Beyond the pageantry, PUGapalooza is a chance to shop, snack and support local businesses while helping a local rescue organization. Participating vendors will donate portions of qualifying sales to Pacific Pug Rescue, including The Spoiled Cat, which will donate $2 from every dog toy sold, and Be Good Monster, which will donate 20% of sales from its “I Speak Pug” T-shirts. Attendees can also donate directly to Pacific Pug Rescue, with Portland Saturday Market matching day-of donations up to $500. The first 50 people to show proof of donation will receive a free custom sticker sheet. And for anyone arriving by car, qualifying purchases of $25 or more at participating vendors include two-hour parking validation at any Smart Park Parking Garage. So dust off that tiny tuxedo, practice your pug’s red-carpet pose and start thinking about which movie deserves the spotlight.
