Pristyn Care

Pristyn Care is pulling back from two peripheral businesses as it refocuses on its hospital network, restructuring consumer brand Beatxp and significantly scaling back medical-supplies initiative MedX, according to three people aware of the developments.
The health-tech startup, backed by Peak XV Partners and Tiger Global, is demerging BeatXP into a separate entity and repositioning it as a sports footwear and athleisure brand. The move marks a retreat from its earlier push into massagers, weighing scales and smartwatches, which struggled to scale, the people said.
MedX, meanwhile, has been scaled back as Pristyn shifts resources towards its own hospitals rather than supplying partner facilities.
Confirming the development in response to Mint’s queries, Vaibhav Kapoor, co-founder of Pristyn Care, said the company has spent the past 18 months developing the new products and plans to launch them over the next three to six months.
“This is a new start for Beatxp,” Kapoor said. “We are looking to invest no more than $2 million in the vertical over the next two years. Prior to this, we would have invested about $10-12 million.” The restructuring effectively takes the consumer brand outside Pristyn Care’s core healthcare operations, even as the founders retain oversight of the business.
The restructuring comes as Pristyn finalizes a ₹180 crore investment from GIFT City-based financial institution Spec Finance (IFSC) Pvt. Ltd, the three people mentioned above added. The financing follows a $4 million investment from existing investors Peak XV and Hummingbird Ventures last year.
From Covid bet to reset
BeatXP was launched in 2020 during Covid as a “survival-mode business”, initially selling sanitizers and face masks before expanding into massagers, weighing scales and wearables. Mint reported in February last year that Pristyn had pulled the plug on smartwatches after the business failed to gain traction.
“Smartwatches was a very high-burn game. Revenue from Beatxp fell to around ₹20-25 crore in FY25, from nearly ₹200 crore in FY24,” Kapoor said.
The reversal comes after Pristyn had once seen BeatXP as a potential growth engine. In April 2025, Mint reported that the company was negotiating to raise $7-10 million for BeatXP, after seeking substantially larger amounts in earlier fundraising efforts.
The new model will be narrower, with Pristyn limiting further investment to $2 million over the next two years and shifting BeatXP towards sports footwear and athleisure.
Pristyn has also pared back MedX, although Kapoor said it was never a separate company or standalone business. The procurement initiative bought medical consumables in bulk for Pristyn’s own hospitals and partner hospitals and contributed “negligible revenue”, he said.
The pullback comes after more than two years of management exits and shifting priorities. Pristyn Care’s consolidated revenue fell to ₹442 crore in FY25 from ₹600 crore a year earlier, while its consolidated loss narrowed to ₹168 crore from ₹381 crore, according to Kapoor. Financial statements for FY25 and FY26 are yet to be filed with the ministry of corporate affairs.
Founded in 2018 by Harsimarbir Singh, Kapoor and Garima Sawhney, Pristyn Care, operated by GHV Advanced Care Pvt Ltd, runs hospitals and clinics through partners. It became a unicorn in 2021 after raising $100 million in Series E funding from Tiger Global Management, Hummingbird Ventures and others at a post-money valuation of $1.4 billion.
Co-founder Singh has been away from operations for around two months over health concerns and is expected to return in September, Kapoor said. Singh remains a director of the company, he added.
Singh did not respond to Mint’s queries.
Doubling down on hospitals
The strategic reset is centred on Pristyn’s own hospital network. The company currently operates nine hospitals, which contribute about 35% of its revenue; partner hospitals account for the remaining 65%, Kapoor said.
“We plan to add another 10 hospitals over the next 12 to 18 months, taking our own network to around 19-20 hospitals. By then, we expect 50-60% of our revenue to come from our own hospitals,” Kapoor said.
Pristyn is also broadening its clinical mix beyond elective surgeries. Its larger hospitals now offer diagnostics, medical management, intensive care and neonatal care. Kapoor said the company aims to build an organised chain of 100-bedded secondary-care hospitals while investing in robotic surgery.
The shift is also aimed at improving the company's economics. Kapoor said the difficult period over the past year forced Pristyn to tighten costs and improve cash-flow cycles. “Tough times either you collapse or you survive and become stronger,” he said.
Pristyn Care was burning about $1 million a month in early FY26 but is now around breakeven, with some months recording a surplus, Kapoor said.
