В округе Поттер запущена программа грантов для женского скота

Potter County launches grant program for female livestock AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Potter County Junior Livestock Show has announced a new gilt, doe and ewe program. Students can apply and, if selected, will be awarded a grant to help pay for their show animal. Austin Voyles, a Potter County Show Board member, said he has been a member of the Potter County Junior Livestock Association for 10 to 12 years. “At this moment, we’ve got a group of volunteers that really have a heart for youth and really have a heart for the show livestock business. We’ve all grown up in it. We’ve all grown up around it. So we know the advantages. It’s our mission, really, to take those advantages to maybe students and exhibitors that don’t know it exists, that have no clue what they can gain, have no clue what they can learn. And we want to really open up the gates and make it easy to access a program that we believe so dearly in,” said Voyles. See the full interview below: Voyles said the program focuses on female animals because they are easier to access and have value for breeders afterward. “It is a female grant program in our sector. A lot of times those females are a little easier to access and they have some value for the breeders afterwards. We’re working with several breeders throughout the area to be able to provide those for the exhibitors. We obviously took into account their advice and what we know and who we know. But we are going to offer does, ewes, and gilts, so female sheep, female goats, and female swine projects, to exhibitors or potential exhibitors throughout the Amarillo Canyon area in Potter County,” Voyles said.
